Abstract

A re-usable, self-standing food bag comprises a flexible pouch (3, figure 1) having a gusseted base (4, figure 1), an opening for filling (2, figure 1) sealed with a zip-type seal and a spout 1 for dispensing, the spout having an attachment 2 for changing the size of the dispensing hole or being interchangeable with spouts of different sizes. The spout may be sealed by a cap which is retained by a strip 4 and loop 5. The pouch may have a re-usable area (5, figure 1) which can be written on. The bag may be for storing baby food, pastes, purees or sauces, and a suitable spout may be fitted so that the contents can easily be dispensed onto a spoon. The pouch may be suitable for heating and freezing.

Description

Title -Food Pouch (reusable) A reusable food pouch that can be filled with homemade food, sealed then chilled or frozen.
The pouch has a zip type opening so the pouch can be filled & sealed and a gusseted base that allows the pouch to expand when filling & stand when in use.
The pouch can be filled, sealed & chilled or frozen.
The pouch has a spout type opening with a screw cap (but safety loop attaches to pouch so top cannot be misplaced) for dispensing the contents to use. The food can be squeezed out directly onto a spoon.
The screw top has a variable interchangeable opening size & this feature is ideal for using the pouch for baby food. This will allow initially pureed food to be squeezed out through the smaller opening which makes it easier to control the flow then as the baby get older to allow the passage of more textured baby food the smaller attachment can be removed & the larger opening is used.
Technical Field
This invention relates to a reusable food pouch
Background
I am very keen for my baby to be eating homemade food which means I know exactly what has gone into it, is easy because I can adapt food we are having for dinner to make something for him & it works out much cheaper than buying baby food.
The problems I have found are that I like to make a bulk of food at the weekends & the containers seem to have taken over my freezer as they are so bulky. Also if we are going out the containers leak, then when he has eaten I still have to carry the empty container around all day or alternatively I have to buy readymade baby food in jars to give him while we are out.
The idea is a reusable food pouch -This product means food will take up less space in the freezer, it is less bulky to take out & once the food has been eaten the pouch can be flattened.
It also means you can adapt your own portion sizes depending on the age & appetite of the baby by filling the bag with the desired quantity.
The idea would have a gusseted base & sealable opening zip, it will incorporate a spout with a screw top so the food can still be squeezed directly onto a spoon to save the need to have to take bowls out with you as well & can be re sealed at any time.
Key Technical Features According to the present invention this is a baby food pouch comprising -a. Small sized reusable pouch suitable for use in a freezer b. Spout with cap incorporated in design to allow contents to be dispensed directly onto a spoon.
c. Variable interchangeable sized spout to allow for passage of different food types.
d. Re usable area on bag to write date contents were added & what they are.
e. Clear bag or clear area on bag so contents can be viewed f. Gusseted bottom so will stand on its own when in use.
g. Can be washed out & re used h. Food can be warmed by standing pouch & contents in hot water Exam pie Specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to accompanying drawing which shows in perspective the bag size & shape -Referring to the drawing Fig 1 -front & back panel (3) join onto a base section (4). The Gusseted base (4) allows the pouch to stand. A top opening allows the bag to be sealed securely with a zip type closure. A spout (1) with screw top allows contents to be squeezed directly onto a spoon the screw top attaches to bag by plastic loop (6). A section on the front of the pouch (5) allows contents I date to be written onto the pouch.
Fig 2 -Interchangeable spout detail. Large main spout opening (1) can have smaller opening (2) screwed into it to create a narrower spout opening for purees. The cap top (3) fits both opening sizes.
The Cap top is attached to the pouch with a loop (5) & Plastic tie (4).
Fig 3-Detail of spout with smaller attachment (2) screwed into larger opening (1). Loop around base of spout (5) attaches to cap with plastic tie (5) so cap does not get misplaced.
