Abstract

A variable height therapeutic stool comprises a seat 1 attached to a height adjustable pole 2, e.g. a vacuum lift mechanism, which has a lower end mounted to the top of a coil spring 5. The coil spring 5 may be mounted to a seat base 4. This arrangement provides a variable height seat, which may rotate around the point of attachment 3 so making a therapeutic seat; good for rotating the hips and spine. The stool also encourages a good seating posture, where a user has to use most of their body and muscles to sit still to work, with their hips and upper body over their feet.

Description

A Therapeutic stool The present invention concerns the general field of stools for supporting seated persons.
The present invention consists of a coil spring 5, fixed to a base 4.
The top of the spring 3 houses a vacuum lift mechanism 2, with a seat 1 on top. The present invention therefore provides an unstable, variable height seat: and requires balancing activity, from the seated person. To maintain a correct seated posture.
Furthermore, the seat encourages motion of the hips and lower back of the seated person: It discourages slouching and encourages the adoption of a correct upright seating posture.
The inventors previous invention, Patent no 0B2352627, relates to this present invention.
The invention claimed is the use of a variable height seat attached to the top of a coil spring. This provides a variable height unstable seat, which rotates around point 3.
Other inventions do not use a coil spring, but with the purpose of changing the seats alignment: not to make it unstable.

Claims (3)

  1. CLAIMS1. A stool seat supported by a variable height pole, with the lower end attached to the top of a coil spring.
  2. 2. A variable height seat according to claim 1, in which the seat rotates around the point of attachment 3 in Figure 1
  3. 3. A variable height seat, according to claim 1 which is unstable and requires the seated person to work to remain still. Or the seated person can use the seats rotation to get a therapeutic spinal motion.
