Abstract
A door stop comprising a base 1, preferably wedge shaped, to hold a door in an open position and an extendable handle 2 that can be contracted for storage, the handle can be folded to the base, preferably by hinge 3 and may be designed at 4 to retain the handle in one position when in use and allow pivoting of the handle to storage position wherein it may be retained by a handle grip 5. The doorstop may be fitted with a strap 6 for carrying or hanging.
Description
HANDY STOP.
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A EASY TO USE AND CARRY DOORSTOP.
WHEN A PERSON NEEDS TO MOVE A VEHICLE OR OBJECT SUCH AS A DISABLED PERSON
IN A WHEELCHAIR; A CHILD IN A PUSI-ICFIAIR; OR CARRY AN OBJECT WITH BOTH HANDS THROUGH A
DOORWAY IT CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT TO HOLD THE DOOR OPEN AND MOVE THE
VEHICLE OR OBJECT THROUGH THE OPENING AT THE SAME TIME,BY DOING SO IT CAN RESULT IN STRAENS AND OR INJURY, ALSO SOME PEOPLE CANNOT BEND TO FIT A CONVENTIONAL DOORSTOP IN THEIR HOME DUE TO MEDICAL REASONS.
TO OVERCOME THIS THE PRESENT INVENTION PROPOSES A DOORSTOP THAT IS FITTED
WITH A HANDLE TO SAVE THE USER FROM BENDING EITHER IN PUBLIC OR IN THE HOME.
THE HANDY STOP CAN BE PLACED REMOVED AND TRANSPORTED EASILY BY THE USER.
PREFERABLY, THE HANDY STOP WILL HAVE A BASE TO HOLD THE DOOR OPEN, PREFERABLY THE BASE WILL BE FITTED WITH AT LEAST ONE HANDLE, PREFERABLY, THE HANDY STOP WiLL HAVE AT LEAST ONE SYSTEM TO HOLD THE HANDLE IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS, PREFERABLY, THE HANDLE WILL BE CONNECTED BY AT LEAST ONE HINGE, PREFERABLY, THE HANDY STOP MAY HAVE A CARRYING STRAP FITTED,
PREFERABLY THE HANDY STOP HAS AN EXTENDING HANDLE FITTED WHERE THE MEANS
OF EXTENSION MAY BE VIA TELESCOPIC ACTION, A LAZY TONGS MEANS, A SCREW THREAD OR A SPRING BIASED MEANS.
AN EXAMPLE OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY REFERRING TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS, FIGURE 1 SHOWS A HANDY STOP IN THE OPEN AND READY TO USE POSITION; FIGURE 2 SHOWS THE HANDY STOP IN THE CLOSED POSITION FOR CARRYING, A WEDGE 1 HAS AN EXTENDABLE RETRACTABLE HANDLE 2 ATTACHED TO THE WEDGE 1 VIA A HINGE 3 THE HINGE IS DESIGNED 4 TO HOLD THE HANDLE 2 IN POSITION WHEN IN USE THE WEDGE 1 HAS A GRIP 5 TO HOLD THE HANDLE 2 IN PLACE WHEN NOT IN USE THE HANDLE 2 HAS A CARRYING STRAP 6 FITTED FOR EASE OF CARRYING OR HANGING.
