Abstract

A collapsible/ foldable tricycle comprises a main body 7 that may be separated from a front portion when not in use. Member 4 is removed, allowing the front portion to be folded flat about pivot 1, thus greatly reducing transportation storage dimensions of the overall tricycle.

Description

Description
Foldable/ collapsible tricycle This invention is designed to allow a full sized front load tricycle to be collapsed down into smaller components, to allow for better transportation or storage.
Tricycles are a popular method for selling and transporting a wide range of products such as hot and cold food, drinks, flowers, parcels and letters, etc, but they are perhaps most memorable for the traditional stop me and buy one' ice cream tricycles which carry either a freezer or cool box on the front. They tend to be steered by 2 wheels at the front and a single wheel at the rear.
Such commercial tricycles tend to be bulky and oversized with no easily detachable components to allow the operator to quickly and easily reduce the dimensions of the tricycle down to more appropriate dimensions for storage or transportation purposes. The design I have invented allows the tricycle to be reduced into smaller components therefore solving the aforementioned problem relating to transportation and storage, thus benefiting both the operator and the manufacturer. To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes that the front half to the tricycle be detached from the tricycle and then folded down to allow for more able transportation.
The ability to do this with minimum effort and tooling allows the once bulky and oversized tricycle to be collapsed ready for transportation and is the unique aspect of my design for which I am seeking the patent.
The folding mechanism of the front section of the tricycle may be either hinged or detachable via the appropriate bolts identified on the below Figures.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows the tricycle in its standard operating position, as I will look when it is fully assembled.
Figure 2 shows the front portion of the tricycle that can be separated from the main body of the tricycle.
Figure 3 shows how the front section of the tricycle can be folded flat once the appropriate bolts have been removed.
Figure 4 shows how the front portion of the tricycle will look once folded flat, along with its accompanying side supports.
Figure 5 shows an alternative view of how the front portion of the tricycle will look once folded flat along with the accompanying side supports.
Figure 6 shows a reverse view of the front portion of the tricycle, along with the components that allow the front section to be detached from the rear section of the tricycle once the bolts have been removed, Figure 7 shows a magnified side view of the top mechanism that attaches the front part of thetricycletotherearpart.
FigureS shows a magnified side view of the bottom mechanism that also attaches the flout part of the tricycle to the rear part.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. A collapsible! foldable tricycle that can be easily dismantled by hand or with the aid of a spanner.
  2. 2. A collapsible! foldable tricycle mechanism that allows the front section of the tricycle to be separated from the main body of the tricycle, therefore allowing more effective transportation and storage.
  3. 3. A collapsible! foldable tricycle that can be reassembled by the methods described in Claim 2 to re-erect the tricycle to its functional position.
