Abstract
The method includes a DC drive motor and gearbox 3A and 4A with drive wheel 5A when the said motor/ gearbox is energised the drive wheel 5A being pressured onto friction drive ring 2A rotates the table 1A. The drive motor 3A being remote controlled and, energised by battery 7A which is kept charged by trickle charger 8A.
Description
DISCRIPTION
The invention is methods to turn a turntable in order to allow a vehicle to be turned facing the opposite direction.
Although there are already methods to turn a turn table round, most need a costly mains electrical instalation which means the turntable is not self contained therefore is a very skilled installation project.
The present invention seeks to over come these problems by making the turntable self contained and therefore will become a d.i.y. or handyman project.
According to the present invention there is provided a choice of methods as described by the accompanied drawings /drawing index and description.
Drawing 1 Shows two drums 4. 5 at a set distance on the vehicle table 1 these drums being able to wind round their body a cable 2 Drum 4 is remote controlled with limit stops, cluth / brake and is powered by a d/e motor similar to ones used to pull vehicles onto a breakdown truck.
The said motor is energised by battery 9 which is kept charged by a solar trickle charger Drum 5 is a flat drum located around the central axis of table lit includes a spring return and a outside face to accommodate an attached cable 2,also attached is a drive arm 3.
This drive arm 3 has a ratchet drive lever 7 and a table brake actuator 6.
Spaced at I 80%permantly attached to the outer edge of the table 1 are drive catches 8.
After the vehicle has mounted the table 1 the drum 4 is then actuated by remote control allowing cable 2 to be tentioned then cable 2 winds round the drum,as cable 2 is attached to the other end of drum 5 it would pull it round its axis, and as the drive arm 3 is also attached the ratchet drive lever 7 engages the drive catch 8 thus rotating the table 1 all the way until the cable 2 reaches the stop limit 11 The vehicle is then in the right position to leave the table, the remote control then de/energises drum 4 which allows drum 5 being spring loaded to return to its original position.
As the other drive catch 8 as now rotated 180% and the ratchet drive lever 7 has ratcheted over drive catch 8 on the table I,the drive arm 3 also operates the table brake actuator 6 to engage and disengage the brake pin that brakes table 1, The table is now ready for a repeat operation.
An electrical cut-out or a variable clutchl brake setting could be incorporated as a safety feature.
Drawing 2 Shows an alternative method to operate a turntable 1 A. There is a remote control drive motor /gearbox 3A 4A and a drive wheel 5A all similar used on the type used on caravan movers, also built in could be a pressure release 9A in order to lift the drive wheel 5A in an emergency The dc motor would be energised by a battery 7A and a solar powered trickle charger 8A There would be a friction plate drive ring 2A for example rubber faced this would be in circumfrencearound the centre of the table IA When the vehicle has mounted the tablelA the remote control energises the drive motor 3A to make the drive wheel SA rotate moving the friction drive ring 2A.
The remote control set up would allow the table to be rotated in either direction and stop in any position, also when the drive 3A is deenergised it would operate as a brake due to the friction between the drive wheel 5A and the friction drive ring 2A Modifications and variations of the present invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art,it is intended that all modifications will be included in the scope of the present invention.
Further the invention not only covers embodiments as described but also combinations of features and embodiments.
