Abstract

A press up device comprising an inflatable sphere 1 with a rotatable handle 4 moulded to be contoured to the palm of a hand mounted on the sphere. The rotation may be provided by a dish mounting 3 which allows for 360 degree of rotation and includes roller bearings. The device may alternatively utilise only half a sphere. The handle 4 may be a mixture of leather and rubber. In use one of the devices is provided for each hand and the arrangement adds an element of instability to improve the development of muscles.

Description

Core Press This invention is used to target the pectoral, triceps, core, abs and tower back muscles whilst carrying out press up style exercises.
When carrying out the press up exercise the major muscle group worked are the chest shoulders and arms.
By assisting a press up using the core press balls / one in each hand this intensifies the exercise by targeting the required core muscle groups, thus developing a deeper muscular contraction as well strengthening the muscle groups as desaibed in the above paragraph.
In order to improve and build muscle development the core press balls I unit provide instability during the press up exercise. This is done through the hand held disks which have an inflatable sphere surface. The sphere surface provides a small contact surface area. On top of the sphere there is a surface which allows for the fitting of the rotatable disk. The rotating disk is to assist with exercise by allowing the hand to twist through a motion. The core press can be worked as a fixed unit with no disk rotation, or with a disk rotation to further intensify the exercise.
The advantages that this invention offers are that it provides instability through the inflatable sphere that is required for the exercise. By having the instability this means the muscles throughout the stomach lower back and core abdominals have to work harder in order to keep the body stable. The rotational bearing disks allow for an easy twisting motion of the hands Which elevates pressure from the wrists. To provide comfort for the hands on top of the sphere disk assembly a contoured pad is shaped to the palm of a hand.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1: shows an inflated sphere with a bearing surface fitted to the top of the half sphere. On top of the bearing surface there is a contoured hand pad.
Figure 2: shows a bearing face which is fitted to the top of the inflated sphere. The small flat blocks from the drawing indicate bearing faces. The bearing face allows for rotation of the hand during exercise.
Figure 3: shows a hand held pad which is contoured to the hand. This is shown in figure 3a and 3b.
In figure 1 this displays one of the core press balls as a single unit. The complete arrangement consists of two units one for each hand, however as per drawing descriptions only one unit can be seen. A half inflated sphere arrangement can be seen in figure 1 point 1. This consists of a semi inflated half ball with rib lines to provide grip between the ball and floor. These lines can be seen in point la. Fixed to the top of the sphere is a hard surface point 2 which then has a bearing unit mounted allowing for twisting action during exercise.
The bearing unit arrangement can be seen in point 3. The contoured hand pad is designed to relieve pressure from the inside palm of the hand. In point 4 the arrangement of the pad in relativity to the rest of the unit can be seen. More details of the contoured hand pad can be seen in Figure 3a and 3b. Figure 3b shows the pad in an isometric view demonstrating the positional points on the underside of where the fingers will rest when in use.
Figure 2 shows the bearing arrangement which will allow for the required twist. The bearing arrangement as shown in figure 2 consists of roller bearings point 6 and a flat surface on which they are mounted point 5. The type of bearings can also exist of ball ended as well as two flat lubricated surfaces sliding against each other fixed via a centre point.

Claims (3)

  1. cialms 1. An inflated sphere is used to support the main structure of the rotational disk and handle. The rotational disk has a moulded pad that is contoured to the palm of the hand.
  2. 2. A disk has a 360 degree rotational axis that is fitted to the sphere which is half an inflated ball as per claim 1
  3. 3. The contoured hand pad is secured to the rotational disk according to daim 2 which is covered in a mixture of leather and rubber to provide grip as well as ware and tare.
