Needle-point couplings.-A pad of insulating material 14 containing a single pair of conducting strips 10, 12 is laid beneath a table cover, to supply current to a lamp having points that penetrate the insulation. The points 38, Fig. 9, are arranged in two triangular groups, each group being attached to a metal block 24 at one side of the lamp base 36<1>. The base may be of wood or other non-conducting material, the metal blocks being covered below by a disc of insulating material. If a metal base is employed The blocks 24 are enclosed in and separated by insulating sheets 42, 44, 46, by which they are secured by bolts 48 to a cross-bar 52.
