Abstract

247,695. Grwynne, A. L. Dec. 16, 1924. Shutters.- A vehicle lamp is provided with vertically pivoted shutters 2 mounted in a flanged ring 1 and connected by a horizontal cross-bar 3 so that they may be moved together by the driver to reflect light on to the near side of the road. The shutters may be of thin flat tapered, or curved strips of metal, glass, or other material, equally or unequally spaced, and they may be op. erated by means of a Bowden wire or a rod 4 connected to an arm 5 secured to an extension of the pivot of the central shutter, a stop 7 being provided to limit the displacement of the shutters. The shutters may be rotated through equal or unequal angles, for which latter purpose the bar 3 may be arranged at an angle to the shutters so that their inclination varies from one end to the other.
