Abstract

A pipe servicing pig / mole / apparatus 10 for insertion into a pipe comprises an inner channel 20 extending between opposite ends 12, 14 providing an internal fluid passageway 20 through the apparatus, an annular fluid passageway 16 between an end of the service mole and the pipe inner wall 18, an outer chamber 26 defined between the outer surface of the servicing / cleaning pig and the inner surface 18 of the pipe, wherein a fluid path is defined from outside the cleaning mole, through the outer chamber, and into an outlet pipe, with the annular fluid passageway forming a cleaning region. Ideally soft deposits are cleaned / scrapped / de-scaled from interior of the pipe. Preferably, suction is provided at the outlet pipe to suck up the foreign bodies / dirt preferably through a filter plate 32. Ideally, the through-hole / internal bore is provided so as to allow the servicing apparatus to be used when the pipeline is live and without disrupting the supply.
