Description

INTELLECTUAL
. .... PROPERTY OFFICE Application No. GBO9 17678.5 RTM Date:8 February 2010 The following terms are registered trademarks and should be read as such wherever they occur in this document: Velcro Intellectual Property Office is an operating name of the Patent Office www.ipo.gov.uk Re-useable Greetings Card This creation allows a greetings card to be re-used on one or more occasions following its original use.
When receiving a greetings card the dilemma is what to do with it and a feeling of guilt arrives whilst placing it in the bin.
The difficulty is in keeping the product simple to use and produce without the need for special packaging for example extra envelopes provided with the card which end up getting lost in transit or misplaced by the customer.
Created by use of a build up of layers, pockets, for envelopes are created.
The re-useable card once sent can then have a layer removed, revealing a clean copy of the card whilst releasing a new envelope, making it re-usable as new.
The advantage of this invention is mainly environmental as it reduces the amount of print, materials, packaging and traffic in the delivery of and selection of the product.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows how a greetings card can be re-used as new in a simple form Figure 2 shows how an adaptation of figure 1 can create the same effect Re-useable greetings card Figure 1: Shows a greetings card 1. in conventional format with an increased depth single vertical fold 2. so required to host extra superposed copy layers and folded envelopes.
The Greetings card 1. card may have any appropriate decorative design usually on the front and greetings message provided internally thereon, for example, merry Christmas, happy birthday or any other occasion. A blank internal is also common.
In figure 1. the decorative design faces outwards and remains unseen. The verse section of the greetings card is copied 3a 3b to be superposed, hereon in it is to be understood that many copies can be used as required dependant on how many re-uses are required, on this occasion the copies are made from paper, it is to be understood that copies can be made of all useable materials for example foil, plastic, card, woven material. All copies are made to the size of the said section of the greetings card along the increased fold. The copies 3a 3b are superposed to the greetings card 1. in this example by means of a non-permanent clear glueS. which allows removal without evidence or damage to the superposed layer or the original greetings card, It will be understood that any other form of attachment may be used so long as it is non-permanent, for example Velcro may be used for more illustrious cards, this will be applied to the outer edges of the preferred section of the greetings card 1. leaving the increased fold 2. free from adhesion, on this occasion the internal right hand section is used but it is to be understood that any section of said greetings card could be used. A folded envelope 4. which is the same size, or larger, as the original envelope provided to host the original card 1, is then placed on to the greetings card inside the glued area and a copy 3a 3b is superposed over creating a pocket and concealing said envelope 4 ready for later use. The superposed copy 3a 3b is then glued as was the greetings card 1 and another envelope 4 is placed within the glued area and the copy 3a 3b is superposed. This is repeated for as many re-uses required. The layer build up may be created away from the greetings card with the fmal assembly being superposed to the original greetings card at an appropriate time.
In use the original purchaser uses the re-useable card in the same way as any other forwarding it to the intended recipient by whatever means. After display the recipient can then remove the 1St layer and save or dispose of it, in doing this a fresh verse sheet is made available along with an envelope allowing the greetings card to be forwarded again and this process is repeated until there are no further sheets or envelopes left. The risk of losing the envelopes in transit is removed as they are contained within the card itself. 3.
The Re-useable Greetings Card Figure 2: Shows a different embodiment of the greetings card 1 in conventional format with an increased depth single vertical fold 2,so required to host extra superposed copy layers 3a 3b 3c and folded envelopes 4.
The greetings card 1 may have any appropriate decorative design and greetings message provided thereon, for example, merry Christmas, happy birthday or any other occasion or even a blank verse.
In figure 2. the decorative design faces outwards and remains unseen. The internal section of the greetings card is copied 3a 3b 3c to be superposed, it is to be understood that many copies can be used as required dependant on how many re-uses are required, on this occasion the copies are made from paper, it is to be understood that copies can be made of all useable materials for example foil, plastic, card woven material. All copies are made to be slightly smaller in length to the length of the said section of the greetings card. The copies 3a 3b 3c are superposed to the greetings card 1 in this example by means of a non-permanent clear adhesive, which permits removal without evidence or damage to the superposed layer 3a 3b 3c or the original 1, it will be understood that any other form of attachment may be used so long as it is non-permanent, for example Velcro may be used for more illustrious cards, this will be applied to the outer edges of the preferred section of the greetings card 1 leaving the increased fold 2 Free from adhesion, on this occasion the internal left hand section is used but it is to be understood that any section of said greetings card could be used. A folded envelope 4 which is the same size, or larger, as the original provided envelope to host the original card 1, is then placed on to the host card inside the glued area and a copy 3a 3b 3c is superposed over creating a pocket and concealing said envelope 4 ready for later use. The right hand side of the copy is left free of adhesion, creating a plurality of free layers. The superposed copy 3a 3b 3c is then glued as was the greetings card 1 and another envelope 4 is placed within the glued area and the copy 3a 3b 3c is superposed. This is repeated for as many re-uses required.
The layer build up may be created away from the greetings card with the final assembly being superposed to the greetings card at an appropriate time.
In use the original purchaser uses the re-useable card in the same way as any other forwarding it to the intended recipient by whatever means. After display the recipient can then remove the layer and save or dispose of it, in doing this the fresh verse sheet becomes the top layer whilst releasing an envelope allowing the host card to be forwarded again and this process is repeated until there are no further sheets or envelopes left. The risk of losing the envelopes in transit is removed as they are contained within the card itself.
