Abstract

A retaining frame for a bin, particularly a wheelie bin, which comprises a frame 5 secured to a wall or post 4 which in use fits over and around the bin to retain it in place, and a hinged member 3, which may be "L" shaped, which lies over the bin and locks to the fame. When locked into the frame the bin is immobilised and the lid is secured in the closed position. The frame may have side sections 5 to assist in retaining the bin. The frame may have fixing points to allow fitment to walls or a ground plate so it can be fixed as a free standing unit. The frame may be electroplated or galvanized and covered in a coating to resist corrosion.

Description

TITLE
Bin Storage System. "lock-a-bin"
BACKGROUND
This invention relates to a Bin Storage System.
With ever growing pressure to recycle our waste we are finding more and more Wheelie bins through out the country. Giving a problem with people using other peoples bins and with this the wrong type of waste being put in, resulting in the owner of that bin getting fined.
More bins also means more theft of bins as well.
More bins also means more are getting left in dangerous positions on paths.
More bins also means opportunity of vandals tipping there contance out, causing a pollution problem.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
To over come all of these problems, the present invention proposes a fix frame with a lockable hinge band, so the bins are locked into a designated locations.
ADVANTAGES
The proposed frame will insure that the bins are kept in a safe and tidy manor, allowing only the key holder access to the bin, stopping other people putting the wrong waste into there bin.
Preferably, the frame will be adjustable at factory to fit all sizes of bins.
Preferably, the frame will be electroplated / galvanized and covered in a coating to resist corrosion.
Preferably, the frame will have a locking mechanism to allow the locking of the fram lid.
Preferably, the frame will have fixing points on it to allow fitment to walls.
Preferably, the frame will have a ground plate on it so it can be fixed as a free standing unit.
INTRODUCTION OF DRAWING
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows how bins can be lefi strewn out over foot paths, if the bin was full of rubbish this would also be over the foot path.
Figure 2 shows frame according to the invention.
Figure 3 shows top plan of frame.
Figure 4 shows front elevation of frame.
Figure 5 shows side elevation of frame.
Figure 6 shows side elevation of frame with free standing frame.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The complete frame in figure 2 shows how the hinge band 1 in figure 3 is design to go over the bin lid, holding the bin lid down in place, this hinge band 1 in figure 2 is also able to be locked with the locking pin 2 in figure 2. The hinge band also incorporates an angled section 3 in figure 2 to retain the bin in its place.
The downward side sections 5 in figure 2 are in place to assist in keeping the bin from being taken out when the frame is locked.
The fixing rail 4 in figure 2 is what will be used to fix the frame to walls or posts.
The factory adjustable foot 7 in figure 2 is what will be used to fix the frame when it is needed to be free standing.
When the bin is put into the frame figure 5 and the hinge band 1 figure 2 is locked, the bin becomes immobilized, not able to put rubbish in it and not able to move the bin out of its position.
Key to drawings: Figure 1 shows how bins are left before and after collection. If the bin were to be full, the rubbish inside would be scattered out causing a pollution problem. Leaving bins like this would also cause a health and safety problem.
Figure 2 shows the invention that is intended to solve the problem Figure 3 shows how the hinged top (1) to the frame will come over the bin lid to stop it being opened. Once it is locked.
Figure 4 shows the hinged top # 1 figure 3 comes over the front of the frame with the locking plate 3 that holds the bin in place.
Figure 5 shows side elevation of the invention fixed to a wall at the given height of the relevant bin. Also showing bin fix into frame.
Figure 6 shows the invention with the free standing frame fitted.
