Abstract
A metal detector for underwater use by divers who are more often horizontal when at the seabed and not vertical, which holds itself in place by means of straps 2 and 4 which go over the back of the hand and wrist and indicates the presence of metal objects by means of LED light strips 8. A wire ribbon 5 connects the scanning disc 1, which houses both the transmitting and receiving coil and control unit 3. The detector uses the most popular VLF (very low frequency) technology. The detector can be switched on or off underwater by the power control button 6 on the control unit 3. A 9-volt battery powers the detector, which can be of the rechargeable type as the control unit has a charging point 7. The detector has no handles or earphones with trailing wires as to make underwater use very simple and safe as the detector can be removed instantly should the diver encounter a problem. The detector may also be used by archaeologists, whether under water or not.
