Abstract

An adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill40(having a stove41and at least one grill42) has a lifting device10and a rotating device20. The lifting device10has a housing11, a handle12and a lifting shaft13. The housing11has a mounting bracket14which is attached to the stove41and a transition gear15. The handle12is connected to the housing11and has a driving gear121and an operating stem122. The lifting shaft13is mounted in the mounting bracket14. The rotating device20is connected to the lifting device10and the barbecue grill40and has a mounting jacket21attached to the at least one grill42and a rotating shaft22. The mounting jacket21is mounted on the barbecue grill40and is mounted around the lifting shaft13. The rotating shaft22is formed on and protrudes from the upper end of the mounting jacket21.

ADJUSTING ASSEMBLY FOR A BARBECUE GRILL
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an adjusting assembly, and more particularly to an adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill allowing easy and safe adjustment of a grill position relative to a stove of the barbecue grill.
2. Description of Related Art
With reference to Fig. 8, a conventional barbecue grill (50) generally comprises a stove (51) and a grill (52). The stove (51) has a top and an opening.
The opening is formed in the top of the stove (51): The grill (52) is mounted in the top of the stove (51) above the opening for supporting food during cooking.
However, a distance between the top of the stove (51) and the grill (52) of the conventional barbecue grill (50) is fixed so a height and the angle between the stove (51) and the grill (52) cannot be adjusted according to food type and fire heat or size. Therefore, different food types, such as vegetables, meat or fish held on thegrill (50) must be cooked at the same temperature so food types, especially slow cooking food types, are easily burned, half cooked or both. Furthermore, when charcoal needs to be added or removed, the grill (52) has to be lifted off from the top of the stove (51) with great opportunity for injury by the grill (52), which is very hot, further complicated when the grill (52) is also laden with food.
In addition, the area of the grill (52) is large and can not be moved or adjusted easily.
To overcome the shortcoming, the present invention provides an adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill to obviate or mitigate the aforementioned problems. * 2
The main objective of the present invention is to provide an adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill allowing easy and safe adjustment of a grill position relative to a stove of the barbecue grill.
The adjusting assembly in accordance with the present invention for a barbecue grill having a stove and at least one grill has a lifting device and a rotating device. The lifting device is mounted on the stove of the barbecue grill and has a housing, a handle and a lifting shaft. The housing is mounted securely on a sidewall of the stove and has a niounting bracket and a transition gear. The handle is rotatably connected to the housing and has a driving gear and an operating stem. The lifting shaft is movably mounted in the mounting bracket.
The rotating device is connected to the lifting device and the grill of the barbecue grill and has a mounting jacket and a rotating shaft. The mounting jacket is mounted securely on a sidewall of the grill and is mounted around the lifting shaft.
The rotating shaft is formed on and protrudes from the upper end of the mounting jacket.
Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
IN THE DRAWINGS: Fig. I is a perspective view of a first embodiment of an adjusting assembly in accordance with the present invention that is mounted on a barbecue grill; Fig. 2 is a partially exploded perspective view of the adjusting assembly in Fig. 1; * 3 Fig. 3 is a side view in partial section of the adjusting assembly in Fig. 1; Fig. 4 is a top view of a second embodiment of an adjusting assembly in accordance with the present invention mounted on a barbecue grill; Fig. 5 is a top view of a third embodiment of an adjusting assembly in accordance with the present invention that is mounted on a barbecue grill; Fig. 6 is an operational side view in partial section of the adjusting assembly in Fig. 1; Fig. 7 is an operational perspective view of the adjusting assembly in Fig. 1; and Fig. 8 is a side view of a conventional barbecue grill in accordance with
the prior art.
With reference to Figs. 1 to 5, an adjusting assembly in accordance with the present invention is mounted on a barbecue grill (40) having a stove (41, 41A, 41B) and at least one grill (42) mounted on the stove (41) and comprises a lifting device (10) and a rotating device (20).
The lifting device (10) is mounted on the stove (41, 41A, 41B) of the barbecue grill (40) and has a housing (11), a handle (12) and a lifting shaft (13).
The housing (11) is mounted securely on a sidewall of the stove (41, 41 A, 41B) and has a mounting bracket (14) and a transition gear (15).
The mounting bracket (14) may be U-shaped, is mounted securely on the sidewall of the stove (41, 41 A, 41 B) and has two free ends, a top, a bottom, a rear face, two sideva1ls, two mounting panels (141, 141A, 141B), two covers (16), two mounting holes (142) and a handle hole (143). The sidewalls of the mounting bracket (14) are formed on and protrude from the rear face of the mounting * 4 bracket (14) to form the U-shaped mounting bracket (14). The mounting panels (141, 141A, 141B) may be tabulate or curved, are respectively formed on and protrude from the free ends of the mounting bracket (14) and are mounted on the sidewall of the stove (41, 41A, 41B) and an angle is defined between the mounting panels (141, 141 A, 14 1B) according to the shape of the stove (41, 41 A, 41B) and the angle may be 1800 or 900. The covers (16) are respectively and detachably mounted on the top and the bottom of the mounting bracket (14) and each cover (16) has a through hole (161). The through hole (16) may be square and is formed through the cover (16) near the free ends of the mounting bracket (14). The mounting holes (142) are respectively formed through the sidewalls of the mounting bracket (14) and align with each other. The handle hole (143) is formed through the rear face of the mounting bracket (14).
The transition gear (15) is rotatably mounted in the mounting bracket (14) between the covers (16) and has a connecting rod (151). The connecting rod (151) is mounted in the mounting holes (142) of the mounting bracket (14) and the transition gear (15) is mounted around the connecting rod (151).
The handle (12) is rotatably connected to the housing (11) and has a driving gear (121) and an operating stem (122). The driving gear (121) is rotatably mounted in the handle hole (143) of the mounting bracket (14) and engages the transition gear (15). The operating stem (122) is connected to the driving gear (121) and extends out of the rear face of the mounting bracket (14).
The lifting shaft (13) may be square, is movably mounted through the through holes (161) of the covers (16) of the mounting bracket (14) and has an inner face, a top end, a bottom end, multiple engaging teeth (131), a holding post (132) and a limiting ring (134). The inner face of the lifting shaft (13) faces to the transition gear (15) of the housing (11). The engaging teeth (13 1) are formed on and protrude from the inner face of the lifting shaft(13) and engage the transition gear (15). The holding post (132) is formed on and protrudes from the top end of the lifting shaft (13) and has an external surface and a holding groove (133). The holding groove (133) is formed around the external surface of the holding post (132). The limiting ring (134) is detachably mounted on the bottom end of the lifting shaft (13) and selectively abuts the cover (16) mounted on the bottom of the mounting bracket (14) to provide a limiting effect to and prevent the lifting shaft (13) separating from the mounting bracket (14) of the housing (11).
The rotating device (20) is connected to the lifting device (10) and the grill (42) of the barbecue grill (40) and has a mounting jacket (21) and a rotating shaft (22).
The mounting jacket (21) is niounted securely on a sidewall of the grill (42), is mounted around the holding post (132) of the lifting shaft (13) and has an outer side, an upper end, a positioning ho]e (211) and a fastener (212). The positioning hole (211) is formed though the outer side of the mounting jacket (21) and communicates with the holding groove (133) of the holding post (132). The fastener (212) is mounted in the positioning hole (211) and presses against the holding groove (133) of the holding post (132) to prevent the mounting jacket (21) separating from the holding post (132) of the lifting shaft (13).
The rotating shaft (22) is mounted on and protrudes from the upper end of the mounting jacket (21).
With reference to Fig. 6, the distance between the grill (42) and the stove * 6 (41. 41A, 4lB) of the barbecue grill (40) can be changed and adjusted easily by rotating the operating stem (122) of the handle (12) to rotate the driving gear (121) by the operating stem (122). Rotation of the driving gear (121) moves the transition gear (15) relative to the mounting bracket (14) of the housing (11), and the lifting shaft (13) is adjusted relative to the housing (11) by engagement of the engaging teeth (131) and the transition gear (15). Accordingly, the mounting jacket (21) mounted around the holding post (132) of the lifting shaft (13) moves with the lifting shaft (13) relative to the housing (11) so adjusting distance between the grill (42) and the stove (41, 41A, 41B).
With reference to Fig. 7, when charcoal is added to or removed from the stove (41, 41A, 41B) of the barbecue grill (40), the fastener (212) is loosened from the positioning hole (211) of the mounting jacket (21) release the holding groove (133) of the holding post (132). Then, the mounting jacket (21) and the grill (42) can be rotated easily relative to the stove (41, 41A, 41B) by rotating the rotating shaft (22) of the rotating device (20). When the grill (42) is moved away from the stove (41, 41A, 41B), charcoal can be easily and safely added into or removed from the stove (41, 41A, 41B) of the barbecue grill (40). In addition, the large area of the grill (42) can be moved and adjusted easily. * 7

Claims (9)

  1. CLAIMS: I. An adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill (40) having a stove (41, 41A, 41B) and at least one grill (42) mounted on the stove (41) and the adjusting assembly having a lifting device (10) adapted to mount on the stove (41, 41A, 41B) of the barbecue grill (40) and having a housing (11) adapted to mount securely on a sidewall of the stove (41, 41A, 41B) and having a mounting bracket (14) adapted to mount securely on the sidewall of the stove (41, 41A, 41B); and a transition gear (15) rotatably mounted in the mounting bracket (14); a handle (12) rotatably connected to the housing (11) and having a driving gear (121) rotatably mounted in the mounting bracket (14) and engaging the transition gear (15); and an operating stern (122) connected with the driving gear (121) and extending out of the mounting bracket (14); and a lifting shaft (13) movably mounted in the mounting bracket (14) and having an inner face facing to the transition gear (15) of the housing (11); a top end; a bottom end; multiple engaging teeth (131) formed on and protruding * 8 from the inner face of the lifting shaft (13) and engaging the transition gear wheel (15); and a holding post (132) formed on and protruding from the top end of the lifting shaft (13) and having an external surface; and a holding groove (133) formed around the external surface of the holding post (132); and a rotating device (20) connected to the lifting device (10), adapted to connect to the grill (42) of the barbecue grill (40) and having a mounting jacket (21) adapted to mount securely on the sidewall of the grill (42), mounted around the holding post (132) of the lifting shaft (13) and having an outer side; an upper end; a positioning hole (211) formed though the outer side of the mounting jacket (21) and communicating with the holding groove (133) of the holding post (132); and a fastener (212) mounted in the positioning hole (211) and pressed against the holding groove (133) of the holding post (132); and a rotating shaft (22) mounted on and protruding from the upper end of the mounting jacket (21).
  2. 2. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claiiñed in claim 1, wherein the mounting bracket (14) of the housing (11) has * 9 two free ends; atop; a bottom; a rear face; two sidewalls formed on and protruding from the rear face of the mounting bracket; two mounting panels (141, 141A, 141B) respectively formed on and protruding froni the free ends of the mounting bracket (14) to mount on the sidewall of the stove (41, 41A, 41B); two mounting holes (142) respectively formed through the sidewalls of the mounting bracket (14) and aligning with each other; and a handle hole (143) formed through the rear face of the mounting bracket (14); the transition gear (15) has a connecting rod (151) mounted in the mounting holes (142) of the mounting bracket (14) and the transition gear (15) mounted around the connecting rod (151); the driving gear (121) of the handle (12) is rotatably mounted in the handle hole (143) of the mounting bracket (14); and the operating stem (1 22) of the handle (12) extends out of the rear face of the mounting bracket (14).
  3. 3. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 2, wherein the mounting bracket (14) of the housing (11) has two covers (16) respectively and detachably mounted on the top and the bottom of the mounting * bracket (14) and each cover (16) having a square through hole (161) formed through the cover (16) near the free ends of the mounting bracket (14); and the lifting shaft (13) is square and is movably mounted through the through holes (161) of the covers (16) of the mounting bracket (14).
  4. 4. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 3, wherein the lifting shaft (113) has a limiting ring (134) detachably mounted on the bottom end of the lifting shaft (13) and abutting the cover (16) that is mounted on the bottom of the mounting bracket (14).
  5. 5. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 4, wherein the mounting bracket (14) of the housing (11) is U-shaped.
  6. 6. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 5, wherein the mounting panels (141, 141A, 141B) of the mounting bracket (14) are curved.
  7. 7. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 5, wherein an angle defined between the mounting panels (141, 141A, 141B) of the mounting bracket (14) is 1800.
  8. 8. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 5, wherein an angle defined between the mounting panels (141, 141A, 141B) of the mounting bracket (14) is 90 Amendment to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS: 1. An adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill having a stove and at least one grill mounted on the stove and the adjusting assembly having a lifting device adapted to mount on the stove of the barbecue grill and having a housing adapted to mount securely on a sidewall of the stove and having a mounting bracket adapted to mount securely on the sidewall of the stove; and a transition gear rotatably mounted in the mounting bracket; a handle rotatably connected to the housing and having a driving gear rotatably mounted in the mounting bracket) and engaging the transition gear; and an operating stem connected with the driving gear and extending out of the mounting bracket; and a lifting shaft movably mounted in the mounting bracket and having an inner face facing to the transition gear of the housing; a top end; a bottom end; multiple engaging teeth formed on and protruding from the inner face of *: :::* 20 the lifting shape and engaging the transition gear wheel; and * * a holding post formed on and protruding from the top end of the lifting shaft and having :* an external surface; and : a holding groove formed around the external surface of the holding post; and 4* ::::; a rotating device connected to the lifting device, adapted to connect to the grill of the barbecue grill and having a mounting jacket adapted to mount securely on the sidewall of the grill, mounted around the holding post of the lifting shaft and having an outer side; an upper end; a positioning hole formed though the outer side of the mounting jacket and communicating with the holding groove of the holding post; and a fastener mounted in the positioning hole and pressed against the holding groove of the holding post; and a rotating shaft mounted on and protruding from the upper end of the mounting jacket.2. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 1, wherein the mounting bracket of the housing has two free ends; atop; a bottom; arear face; two sidewalls formed on and protruding from the rear face of the mounting bracket; two mounting panels respectively formed on and protruding from the free ends of the mounting bracket to mount on the sidewall of the stove; two mounting holes respectively formed through the sidewalls of the mounting bracket and aligning with each other; and a handle hole formed through the rear face of the mounting bracket; the transition gear has a connecting rod mounted in the mounting holes of the mounting bracket and the transition gear mounted around the connecting rod; the driving gear of the handle is rotatably mounted in the handle hole of the : * mounting bracket; and the operating stem of the handle extends out of the rear face of the mounting bracket.3. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 2, wherein :* 25 the mounting bracket of the housing has two covers respectively and detachably mounted on the top and the bottom of the mounting bracket and each cover having a * square through hole formed through the cover near the free ends of the mounting bracket; and the lifting shaft is square and is movably mounted through the through holes of the covers of the mounting bracket.4. The adjusting assembly for a barbecue grill as claimed in claim 3, wherein the lifting shaft has a limiting ring detachably mounted on the bottom end of the lifting shaft and abutting the cover that is mounted on the bottom of the mounting bracket. * 135.
