Abstract

A hotel room status indicator and room number comprises a single integrated unit that can hold a glass or acrylic sign and be fixed directly to a wall. The bracket contains two or three lights inside that edge illuminate the sign in various indicator colours to alert staff to a request for privacy or service. The acrylic element can be laser etched or sandblasted with the room number or name which is edge-lit, preferably by LEDs in red, green and white. A switch is provided in the room which allows the occupant to switch the light from normal to an appropriate indicator colour.

Description

Hotel room indicator/sign monoblock This invention relates to a single integrated unit that can be attached outside a hotel room and acts as both a room number and a facility for indicating a request for service or privacy.
Hotel rooms require numbers or names.They also require a facility for the guest to indicate if they do not wish to be disturbed or wish to have maid service. Offices and hotels have meeting rooms which also have names and may require a system to indicate whether the room is in use.
The invention consists of a single mounting bracket that can hold a glass or acrylic sign and be fixed directly to the wall.The bracket contains two or three lights inside that edge illuminate the sign in various indicator colours to alert staff to a request for privacy or service.
To invention of a single unit that provides all of this information is both elegant and cost effective.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.The acrylic or glass sign element A could be laser etched or sandblasted with the room number or name B this forces the light from the LED to refract and illuminate the message area.The glass sign is then attached into the monoblock fixing C.   1. Claims 1. A single integrated wall mounted unit that acts as both a message and a facility for indicating a request for service or privacy using integrated lights.
  2. 2. A single integrated unit according to claim 1 that has two different colour lights to provide indication.
  3. 3. A single integrated unit according to claim 1 that has three different colour lights to provide indication.
