' Controllng extent of travel.-In controlling a motor to follow angular movements of a distant instrument, for example a telescope 11, the original movement takes effect on an inductive device 13 at the transmission end of the control circuit so as to generate an electromotive force depending on the amount and direction of the angle of movement. The energy received is amplified at the receiving end by a pair of 61ectron discharge tubes 24, 25, one for each half of the wave, and may be further amplified by a second pair of electron tubes 33, 34. In the example shown, the amplified three-phase energy is delivered to the stator windings of an induction motor 22 which angularly displaces an inductive winding 18 until its position corresponds to that of the inductive winding 13. The motor 22 may be used to train a search-light 10. In a modification the amplified waves at the receiving end are delivered to a direct current motor having two armatures connected to inductance coils and condensers, or a single armature with differential field windings. In another modification the waves are delivered to differential field windings of a generator which supplies the working motor.
