Abstract

A dispenser 1 for dispensing anti-bacterial liquid / foam comprises a plunger system 6 which can be actuated to deliver the product content, the content being emitted through a single nozzle outlet / multiple outlets 2, 3 which are recessed / concealed, wherein a conic cover 7 prevents contact with the hidden / recessed nozzle openings 2, 3, the actuating plunger of the anti-bacterial dispenser being designed such that there is minimal contact surface area with a user's hand to prevent cross-contamination. Ideally the dispenser is held / mounted vertically and the plunger is actuated by pushing upwards. Preferably the emanating spray also contacts the plunger, and thereby self-cleans the plunger / actuator by covering it in the antibacterial fluid. Preferably, an inverted U-shaped tube 1 extends from the nozzle to the bottom of the product container. The disinfectant dispenser may be wall mounted, or may take the form of a personal dispenser (as shown in the figure) to be carried on the person.

Description

I
Universal delivery system for antibacterial fluids
Background
This invention relates to a universal delivery system, which can be utilised either on a wall mounted unit and/or a personal device, which can deposit an antibacterial liquid or foam onto the operatives palm in an instant, through apertures which can allow for a more clean and sanitary dispense, whilst at the same time sanitizing the end of the plunger ready for the next use to prevent cross contamination.
The evolution of deadly microorganisms is becoming a major problem in the healthcare.
MRSA, C-difficile, E-coli, Hi Ni swine' virus to name but a few can cause serious illness and even death. The transference of these pathogens can be down to a number of reasons; however the most prolific is via the hands.
Current units, either personal or wall mounted lend themselves to cross contamination, down to the handling which has to be done to emit the antibacterial content. Other reasons are down to the areas in which bacteria and infection can live on the dispenser, ranging from on the housing units to the plunger system, allowing for the pathogens to continue spreading.
The process for dispensing an antibacterial content is vital in that any complicated method will deter operatives from utilising the unit. Other problems can be seen in that wall mounted units, and other units have apertures Which are open to the elements, i.e. they can be directly touched, leading to chances of cross contamination to the inner main housing unit.
Statement of invention
To overcome this problem the present invention is a universal delivery system, which can be used either on wall mounted units or personal dispensers or other units which are suitable.
The plunger is designed to be easy to use and comfortable, and has the ability to either emit a foam or liquid content instantaneously. When the operative plunges up on the unit, the content will be emitted through the apertures, and onto the palm, where the round end of the plunger will also be subject to a coating of the antibacterial content present on the hand. The antibacterial liquid will then dry out on the tip of the plunger quickly and naturally, ready for the next dispense, limiting any chance of cross contamination.
The delivery system utilises a standard pump mechanism, which can produce a foam, with an arched inner tube which allows for all of the content to be used within the dispenser, as well as allowing the dispenser to be in the correct position for the prompt use.
The aim of the delivery system is to emit an antibacterial liquid or foam instantaneously, whilst limiting any chances of cross contamination from the end of the plunger.
The delivery system has double or multiple apertures to emit the content, and are set back so that they are not open to the elements aiming to make the delivery of the content more sanitary and cleaner, and limiting any thance of cross contamination.
There is the potential for the unit to be removable and then screwed onto other units when the current unit, meaning either wall mounted or personal etc is empty of its liquid/foam content.

Description of Drawings
Figure 1 shows the delivery system 6 (circled) on a potential personal unit 5. The standard pump mechanism for foam or liquid is still being utilised with the arched inner tube 1. Either side shows some versions of aperture positions, ranging from double apertures 3 or multiple apertures 2, protected by conic cover 7. A single aperture is also a possibility 4 Figure 2 shows an artist impression of the utilisation of the delivery system on a potential personal unit.
Figure 3 shows an artist impression of the delivery system I on a potential wall mounted unit 3, still making use of the standard pump mechanism and the arched inner tube 2.
Figure 4 shows an artist impression of the delivery system I with the round end of the plunger in contact with the deposited foam or liquid 2.

Claims (12)

  1. Claims 1. A universal delivery system for preferably antibacterial liquids that can be fitted either on wall mounted, free standing or personal dispensers allowing for a vertically orientated position, where a plunger system delivers either a foam or liquid, pending on what is chosen, with the content being emitted through double or multiple concealed apertures, where the conic cover is designed to prevent physical contact with the recessed apertures, and the plunger allows for a minimal contact surface area.
  2. 2. A universal delivery system as stated in previous claims that can have double or multiple apertures.
  3. 3. A universal delivery system as stated in previous claims with a minimal contact surface area, limiting chances of cross contamination and unnecessary handling.
  4. 4. A universal delivery system as stated in previous claims has the ability to emit the antibacterial content instantaneously.
  5. 5. A universal delivery system as stated in previous claims that can be fitted on any suitable dispenser, ranging from wall and free standing units to personal dispensers.
  6. 6. A universal delivery system as stated in previous claims will have a round end which is comfortable and non slip for use when the operative plunges up on the dispenser.
