Abstract

An electronic dice apparatus comprises a casing or housing having at least one seven segment display 2, at least one trigger switch 1, and electronic timer and logic means. Operation of the trigger switch causes the electronic timer and logic means to generate and display a random number between 1 and 6. The casing is preferably in the form of a cube, cuboid or cylinder. The electronic timer and logic means may comprise a mono-stable timer, a decade counter and a logic component (see figure 9). The trigger switch is preferably a push or touch switch, and the apparatus preferably includes a master on-off switch. Two trigger switches may be provided, and two displays may be provided, with each display being angled so as to face in opposite directions. In a preferred embodiment, upon pressing the trigger switch the seven segment display rapidly cycles through the numbers between 1 and 6 in a random manner for two to three seconds before displaying a randomly selected number. The electronic dice may be used to replace manually thrown physical dice when playing board games.

Description

THE SEVEN-SEGMENT RANDOM DISPLAY ELECTRODICE
DESCRIPTION
The Seven-Segment Random Display ElectroDice is a cubical, rectangular or cylindrical electronic dice designed to replace the six-sided dices used in a number of games. Every time a push or touch switch is depressed, a monostable circuit configuration randomly selects and displays a number between 1 and 6 inclusive.
The ElectroDice contains a four-stage circuit configuration made up of an input switch, a monostable timer, a decade counter (& a logic PCB contraption) and a seven-segment display. When the switch is depressed the display rounds through the numbers 1 to 6 (scores of times per second) and randomly stops on a number after 2 to 3 seconds.
