Abstract

A lightweight acrylic mirror is flexible and portable. It includes a simple screw mechanism to adjust the mirror from a flat to a convex position. The simple mechanism adjusts the mirror so that the reflection in the mirror appears narrower than normal. The mirror may be used as a motivational device to demonstrate how a person might look if he/she lost weight. The mirror is portable and can be free standing or hung on a wall.

Description

description Title
Portable Flexible Mirror
Background of/to the invention
This invention relates to a curved image narrowing mirror A conventional flat mirror reflects actual size Statement of the Invention -problem The Invention Solves Advantages what the invention does To overcome this situation this invention proposes a flat plane mirror that can be mechanically adjusted to a convex plane surface.
The convex mirror will reflect an altered image. This image is narrower than actual size. The degree of altered image can be controlled by the simple mechanical adjustment of the mirror curvature. This invention is designed to be used as a motivational device to demonstrate how a person might look if they lost weight.
The invention is light and portable and can be free standing or wall hung.
Key features The mirror is made from a high quality flexible reflective material and can be adjusted with a simple mechanical screw mechanism at the back of the mirror. The greater the convex curvature on the mirror the narrower the image will be reflected.
Drawings and full description
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings-Figure! -front elevation This shows the front elevation of the mirror Width 400 -600 mm Height 1000 -2000mm Thickness 5mm Shape rectangular with curved edges Material reflective Acrylic plastic Figure 2 -rear elevation This shows the rear elevation with supporting brackets and mechanical screw adjustment The supporting brackets are Aluminium angles screwed fixed and glued to the longitudinal edges of the mirror. p
These angles provide stiffness support to the mirror and holes are drilled into the angles that allow the mirror to be wall hung The angles are also drilled to allow the threaded bolts to be located The mechanical screw mechanism consists of two threaded bolts, small diameter, secured to the angles with a nut at each end. The bolts are threaded through a bracket adjustable screw mechanism in two locations on the mirror. These brackets rotate causing the overall lengths of the bolts to shorten thus causing the mirror surface to bend in a convex manor.
Figure 3-wall mounting This shows the method by which the mirror can be wall hung In the top of the angle brackets two holes are drilled.
This will allow a length of wire to pass through which can then be extended to hang from a wall bracket Figure 4 footings This shows the method by which the mirror can be floor mounted in 3 or 4 footings bracket supports.
These are triangular in section made from plastic or wood with a central slot to locate the mirror to be placed on the floor Figure 5 -Detail of Adjustment System This figure shows the simple small diameter threaded rod and adjustable screw mechanism TITLE -Flexible (Portable) Mirror
