Abstract
A thumbless mitten made from continuous knitted loop pile lined fabric with a single seam near the top 5 that seals the tube at one end. The wrist section 2 of the thumbless mitten is seamlessly connected to the hand section 1, and is the same length or longer. It is put on and removed by the stretching of the fabric without fastenings or openings. The hand and digits are contained in a single area 6. The hand section may be covered in a PVC pattern to increase grip and the open end of the tube may have a band of silicone or similar substance to reduce the ridding up of the wrist section of the mitten.
Description
TITLE -MITTEN
BACKGROUND
This invention relates to a thumb-less mitten made from fabric in a seamless tube. It fits to both hand and arm. The problem is that both gloves and mittens are difficult to put on a child but the child finds them easy to get off.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
To overcome these problems this invention. The Thumbless mitten has a round area for the hand is easy to get on. Not having a right/wrong or left/right reduces the time and fussing involved.
The long, more-elasticised section from wrist to elbow means the mitten stays on even with the most vigorous shaking.
ADVANTAGES
The seamless fabric tube thumbless mitten extends up the arm to the elbow making it difficult to shake off, It also keeps the wind out and provides the arm with additional insulation.
The single unit for the hand means it is easy to get on and keeps the hand warm -while the stretch of the fabric allows for movement of the hand and fingers and thumb.
Preferably the mitten hand area has a PVC patterned grip all over the hand section of the mitten to improve grip.
Preferably the open end of the mitten has some silicone or rubber on the inside edge to reduce the wrist section of the mitten riding down the arm when being
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the following drawing.
Figure 1 The Thumbless mitten has a round area (1) for the hand, which is easy to get on.
Not having a right/wrong or left/right reduces the time and fussing involved. The lack of finger separation keeps the hand and fingers in the same area and reduces heat loss.
The long, more-elasticised section from wrist to elbow (2) means the mitten stays on even with the most vigorous shaking.
The lack of side or joining seams means there is much less irritation and the item is a continuous construction, smoothly forming to the arm and hand.
The mitten is made from a continuous knitted loop pile lined tube (3).
The section into which the hand goes has a minimal seam just below the top on one side that seals the tube (5).
The construction is circular and therefore there is no right or wrong way around or right or left mitten -though they do come as a "pair".
The section from the wrist up the arm is longer than the length of the hand, though there is no seam (7).
The entire piece is made of the same construction though of a different weave (8 and 4).
The ribbed wrist section (2 and 8) is more elasticised and so fits along the arm up to or over the elbow joint, this ensures that the item stays on without additional fastenings or openings.
Detailed description:
1 Hand section of mitten.
2 Wrist section of mitten.
3 Loop pile stretchy tube fabric cushioned terry loop lined.
4 Top of hand section of knitted tube loop pile lined fabric.
Recessed flat seam on only one side that seals this end of the tube of fabric.
6 Faint image of a hand to show the positioning of the mitten on the hand and arm.
7 Seamless transitions to a different type of ribbed weave for the wrist section 8 Ribbed section of mitten elasticated more strongly than the hand section to keep the tube snug to the arm.
9 open end of the mitten which reaches approximately up to the inside elbow bend of the arm when worn.
These thumbless mitten come in pairs, they are the same back, front and sides with the exception of the recessed seam (5). They do not create any separation for the fingers, thumb or hand when worn but good movement is possible because of the fabric, being of a continuous knitted loop pile lined tube construction. The length of the wrist section is at least the length of the hand section,
Claims (2)
- CLAIMSI A thumbless mitten made from continuous knitted loop pile lined fabric.
- 2 A thumbless mitten with the wrist section the same or greater length as the hand section 3 A thumbless mitten that can be worn on either hand 4 A thumbless mitten with a long elasticated wrist section that fits snugly to the arm without additional fastenings or openings A thumbless mitten that is put on and removed by the stretching of the fabric without additional fastenings or openings 6 A thumbless mitten that has only a single seam near the top of the hand section that seals the tube.
