Abstract

A motorcycle tyre warming device comprising one or more incandescent heat lamps positioned near a motorcycle's tyre or tyres. The heat lamps may be linked to a thermostat and may also be linked to a motion sensor.

Description

Motorcycle Tyre Device (I) This invention relates to a device to wanm1heat motorcycle tyres.
When a motorcycle begins its journey, its tyres may not have reached a temperature for optimum performance with regards to road holding, braking characteristics and grip. Even during a long journey when the friction of a tyre against the road generates heat in the tyre, cold weather conditions could result in the tyre temperature dropping below its optimum temperature for performance in relation to road holding, braking characteristics and grip.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes one or more Incandescent light bulbs or tubes, used as a heat lamp, connected to the motorcycle's electrical system, which will warm the tyre/s.
Warming the tyres will increase the temperature of the compound of the tyres, which will help achieve an optimum temperature for performance in relation to road holding, grip and braking characteristics.
Preferably, the Incandescent light/heat bulb/s or tube/s will be located in the mudguards of the motorcycle.
Preferably, the Incandescent light/heat bulb/s or tube/s will be linked to a thermostat that will monitor the air temperature in the gap between tyre/s and rnudguard/s, and thus stop the electrical cunent when the desired temperature for optimum performance is reached or exceeded, or will reduce the output of the Incandescent light/heat bulb/s or tube/s to ensure that the optimum temperature for performance is not exceeded.
Preferably, there will be a motion sensor that will stop the current to the Incandescent light/heat bulb/s or tube/s when the motorcycle is stationary.
The Incandescent light/heat bulb/s or tube/s can contain an active gas such as halogen.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a motorcycle front mudguard with an Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube built inside the mudguard, Figure 2 shows a bird's eye cut out view of a front motorcycle mudguard with two Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes on either side of the mudguard, positioned inside the mudguard, with a thermostat, Figure 3 shows a motorcycle front mudguard from a side view with the thermostat and Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube located at the top of the mudguard, Figure 4 shows a side view of a motorcycle front mudguard with temperature sensor/sender attached to the tyre, and Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube plus thermostat built inside the mudguard, Figure 5 shows Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube attached to the front of the motorcycle frame. The thermostat is built inside the mudguard, Figure 6 shows the Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube attached to the swinging arm. The thermostat is built inside the mudguard, Figure 7 shows a bird's eye view of the Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube attached to the rear of the motorcycle, Figure 8 shows the side view of the rear motorcycle mudguard with Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube built into the top of the mudguard. The thermostat is located inside the mudguard at the top.
In figure 1, the Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube is providing hot air/warm air 5 onto the tyre 1 and providing hot/warm air S inside the mudguard 2, in order to help the tyres reach and maintain their optimum temperature for performance, with regards to road holding, grip and braking performance. The thermostat 3 is located in the inside of the mudguard and is linked and in control of two Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes 4, and will monitor the air temperature and will stop the electricity to the Incandescent light/heat bulbs/ tubes 4 if the desired air temperature is reached or exceeded, or will reduce the heat output of the Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes 4, in order to ensure the optimum temperature is not exceeded.
In figure 2, the Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes 4 are positioned at the side, inside the mudguard 2, they are providing hot/warm air S onto the tyre 1 and providing hot/warm air inside the mudguard 2 in general, in order to help the tyres reach and maintain their optimum temperature for performance with regards to road holding, grip and braking performance.
The thermostat 3 is located in the inside of the mudguard and is linked and in control of the Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes 4, and will monitor the air temperature and will stop the Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes 4 if the desired air temperature is reached or exceeded, or will reduce the heat output of the Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes 4, in order to ensure the optimum temperature is not exceeded.
In figure 3, the Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes 4 are positioned on top of the mudguard with the thermostat 3. The Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes 4 are providing wanm'hot air S onto the tyre 1.
In figure 4, there is secured on the tyre 1 a temperature sensor/sender unit 6, this can relay the temperature of the tyre wall by, perhaps, radio waves to the thermostat 3 which controls the Incandescent light/heat bulbs/tubes.
In figure 5, the Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube 4 is located on the front of the motorcycle frame 7, providing hot/warm air onto the tyre 1. The thermostat 3 is located inside the top of the mudguard 2.
In figure 6, the Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube 4 is located on the swinging arm 8. The Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube 4 is providing hot/warm air onto the tyre 1. The thermostat 3 is located inside the top of the mudguard 2.
In figure 7, the Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube 4 is located at the rear of the motorcycle. It is providing hot/warm air onto the tyre 1. The thermostat 3 is located inside the top of the mudguard 2.
In figure 8, the Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube 4 is located inside the mudguard 2 with a thermostat 3 located inside the top of the mudguard 2. The Incandescent light/heat bulb/tube 4 is providing hot air 5 onto the tyre 1.
