Abstract

246,480. Deutsche Gasgl³hlicht-Auer- Ges. Jan. 23, 1925, [Convention date]. Refractory substances containing zirconium oxide.-Zirconium oxide, obtained for instance by heating basic sulphates, is sintered at temperatures above 1800‹ C. and is then worked up into refractory articles by known methods without particularly fine grinding. The articles are finally burnt at temperatures exceeding 2000‹ C. The burning of the articles may be conducted in two stages, at 1300‹ C. and above 2000‹ C. respectively, or if pressure is used in forming the articles 1600‹ C. is a sufficiently high burning temperature.
