Abstract

A tiltable parasol has a stem3which has two lilting mechanisms6. The end of the stem3has a clamping mechanism (11, 12, 13) to allow the parasol to be attached to items such as chairs or deck-chairs. The stem3of the parasol may be telescopic. The parasol may be made of light weight materials, with the fabric1of the parasol preferably being polyester. The parasol may be folded or retracted so that it is small enough to fit into a bag.

Description

Parasol This invention relates to a Parasol that can be folded down for travel purposes.
When people are at the beach or on holiday abroad and the sun becomes too hot for them usually there is no shade nearby or there isn't enough shade provided then the ideal answer would be to have your own, easy to carry and easy to assemble parasol shade at your own convenience.
However many people whilst going to the beach or sitting around a hotel pooi, have enough to carry and a standard parasol would both be too big and too heavy to carry along with the rest of their items, not to mention the large weight that the parasol would need to be attached to. To overcome these problems we propose a lightweight parasol that not only can be folded down becoming small enough to fit into a beach bag, but also is designed with a clamp that makes it able to be attached to either your deckchair, sun loungers and all alike.
The material of the parasol would be made out of 100% polyester which is not only a lightweight material that is easy to clean but is also very good at blocking out the sun.
The shaft frame will be made out of a lightweight but strong metal and will be able to bend at different angles near the top and at the bottom so that it can be tilted at various angles and will also retract into itself to make it smaller and easier for transporting or storing.
The attachment mechanism will be a vice like clamp, which can be moved together and further apart making it possible to use it on thicker bases like deckchairs to smaller bases like sun loungers.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with ref to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the umbrella part of the parasol that will be made of polyester and joined together with lightweight foldable metal much like a standard umbrella, so that it can be reduced in size to fit in the carry case, it will also have a press stud clip so that when closed can be clipped together to keep it compact and so will stay closed.
Figure 2 shows the mechanism that will be near the top of the shaft enabling the umbrella part of the parasol to be moved from side to side so that as the sun moves around during the day it can be tilted in accordance with where the shade is required.
Figure 3 shows the shaft which will be in different thickness if the metal each about 1 foot long so that you can have it longer or shorter and also so that it can be retracted one into the other making it the same size as the closed umbrella part so then also able to fit into the carry case.
Figure 4 shows the mechanism that will be at the bottom of the shaft so that it can be moved from front to back enabling you to place the parasol on objects of different angles.
Figure 4 shows the clamp that is joined to the shaft. This will be a movable clamp so that it can be attached to various sized objects like the thicker styled bases like deckchairs to smaller bases like sun loungers. It will be made from hard wearing plastic and lightweight metal very much like a bar clamp.
In figure 1 the number 1 shows the polyester cover that is the umbrella part of the parasol, the number 2 shows the lightweight metal that will be collapsible and will run from the outer part of the umbrella to the centre of the umbrella creating an umbrella shape, joining the shaft which is number 3. Number 4 represents a press stud which is connected to the material itself number 5 is also a press stud although number 5 will be situated on a piece of polyester to match the umbrella colour enabling it to wrap around the umbrella and join onto toe other press stud, number 4.
In figure 2 shows the mechanism 6 enabling the shaft to be put at different angles an the convenience of requirement.
In figure 3 you can see how the shaft represented by the number 3 reduces in size at about 1 foot intervals represented by the numbers 7, 8 and 9, this will allow the parasol to be different heights depending upon the needs.
In figure 4 number 11 represents the stationary clamp part which is increased and reduced by squeezing number 12 enabling the movable part of the clamp, number 13 to clamp itself onto many different thicknesses. Number 14 represents the body of the clamp with which number 13 will slide up and down by pressing number 12.
