Abstract

A device for controlling incontinence comprises a pressure sensorAplaced inside a patient's bladder (1) which is connected to an electrodeBto stimulate the sphincter muscles to prevent leakage of urine. The device may be remote controlled. The device may be secured to the inside of the bladder by means of an anchorD. The electrodeBmay stimulate the fast twitch muscle (3) of the sphincter. The pressure sensorAmeasures the intra vesicle pressure.

Description

A TITLE OF INVENTION
BLADDER SPHINCTER PACEMAKER
B ACTION/FUNCTION TO PREVENT URINARY INCONTINENCE FEMALE/MALE
C DESCRIPTION (SEE DIAGRAM)
THE ELECTRODE HAS A GUIDE WIRE WHICH IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO
THE FAST ACTING PORTION OF THE SPHINCTER. THIS IS EASY TO LOCALISE ON MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING.
THE PRESSURE GUAGE SENSORS ARE EQUIPPED TO SENSE WHEN
INTRAVESICAL (IE INTRA BLADDER) PRESSURE HAS RISEN HIGHER THANK INTRA URETHRAL PRESSURE. ONCE THIS OCCURS AND INCONTINENCE IE URINE LEAKAGE IS ABOUT TO OCCUR.
THE ELECTRODE STIMULATED THE SPHINCTER AND STOPS URINE
LEAKAGE.
TO PASS URINE NORMALLY THE REMOTE CONTROL DEACTIVATES THE
WHOLE SYSTEM TEMPORARILY.
