Abstract
An arrangement for retaining a suction cup within the leg 1 of a bath seat comprises a sucker assembly 20 which can detachably locate within the leg of a bath chair. The sucker assembly 20 comprises a sucker 2, the sucker having a latch body 3 featuring one or more latches 8 which serve to retain the sucker assembly within a latch release aperture 5 upon the leg 1. The sucker assembly is released from the leg by depressing the latches and withdrawing the sucker assembly from the leg.
Description
SUCKER RETENTION MEANS
The use of bath seats placed in a bath is well known. Such bath seats commonly are fitted with soft suckers that engage the bottom of the bath.
These suckers are commonly fitted in such a manner that it is difficult or not possible for the end user to replace a damaged part. The present invention seeks to provide a mechanism that allows easy removal and replacement of suckers.
In order that the invention may be better understood reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings where: -Fig # 1 shows the invention fully assembled on the leg of a bath seat (bath seat not shown).
Fig # 2 shows the sUcker assembly removed from the leg of the bath seat.
Fig # 3 shows an exploded view of the sucker assembly.
Fig # 4 shows a three dimensional view of the sucker release mechanism.
Fig # 5 shows a section through the assembled invention.
Now referring to the drawings: -A latch component (3) is attached to a retaining spigot (7) on a sucker (2) and the parts are retained together by a retaining pin (4). The retaining pin (4) is kept in position by retaining pin retention members (6). The parts so for described are as shown at the bottom of Fig # 2 and are considered to comprise a sucker assembly (20).
The sucker assembly (20) is pushed into the bottom of a leg (1) where it is retained by two latches (8).
The sucker assembly (20) can be removed from the leg (1) by pushing two small release members such as screw drivers in two latch release access holes (5) to push in the latches (8) allowing the sucker assembly (20) to be removed.
In another embodiment of the invention the method of attaching the sucker (2) to the latch component (3) can be of any other means.
Further embodiments of the invention comprise any other designs for the latches (8), this includes the construction of the latches and the number of latches.
Accordingly the present invention comprises a sucker retention means comprising a sucker assembly (20) said sucker assembly (20) comprising a sucker (2) with a latch component (3) attached, said latch component (3) having one or more latches (8) that are arranged to retain the sucker assembly (20) in the bottom of a leg (I), said leg (1) having latch release access (5) allowing the latches (8) to be depressed, such action in turn allowing the sucker assembly (20) to be removed from the leg (I).
Claims (4)
- CLAIMS1) A sucker retention means comprising a sucker assembly (20) said sucker assembly (20) comprising a sucker (2) with a latch component (3) attached, said latch component (3) having one or more latches (8) that are arranged to retain the sucker assembly (20) in the bottom of a leg (1), said leg (1) having latch release access (5) allowing the latches (8) to be depressed, such action in turn allowing the sucker assembly (20) to be removed from the leg (1).
- 2) A sucker retention means as claimed in claim 1 and generally as herein described.
- 3) A sucker retention means as claimed in claims I & 2 where the sucker is retained to the latch component by any other means.
- 4) A sucker retention means as claimed in claims 1 -3 where the latch is of any other design.Amendments to the claims have been filed as followsCLAIMSI) A sucker retention means comprising a sucker assembly (20), said sucker assembly (20) comprising a sucker with a latch component (3) attached, said latch component (3) having one or more latches (8) that are arranged to retain the sucker assembly (20) in the bottom of a leg (1), said leg (1) having latch release access (5) allowing the latches (8) to be depressed, such action in turn allowing the sucker assembly (20) to be removed from the leg (I) and said sucker being retained within said latch component by means of a retaining spigot projecting from the upper surface of the sucker and passing within a vertical hole formed within the latch component and further a retaining pin being positioned within a horizontally formed hole that passes through both the latch component and the spigot part of the sucker, and said retaining pin being retained in position by formations on the surface of the latch component.
