Abstract

The jacket 7 includes an integrated continuous harness type strap 2 which is secured at the front of the jacket by a snap together buckle 3. An electrically insulated panel (6,Fig.2) is provided at the back of the jacket. The panel is crossed by a secure nylon grab strap (4). The grab strap is stitched into the jacket's harness strap and a series of highly visible strips 1 cross the back and front of the jacket. The jacket has been designed to help pull a person away from electrical contact safely via the grab strap on the jacket without risk of injury to the person aiding the casualty.

Description

Electrically Insulated Grab Jacket This invention relates to an electrically insulated (in places) device for pulling a person away from contact with live equipment, apparatus safely without risk of injury to the person aiding the casualty When people work around electrical equipment, apparatus things can go wrong pretty fast and their needs to be away for getting someone away from a dangerous situation as quickly and safely as possible Until now there has not been any thing available to do this safely This jacket has been designed to help save lives by taking the risk panic & indecision out of a rescue involving a electrical contact situation Example An electrical worker has come into contact with a live conductor and is locked to it with a tight grip, Up until now the only way to save the casually was to try to find something insulated to pull them away from danger this method normally takes to long and the casualty and sometimes the rescuer end up dead The casualty is wearing the electrically insulated grab jacket and is seen by a fellow employee The rescuer goes over to aid the casualty and immediately is drawn to the insulated panel and grab strap on the casually's jacket He grabs the strap and safely pulls the victim out of harms way without putting their own life at risk The Jacket is a highly visible electrically insulated (in places) garment to be worn over the clothing and can be any length size or colour long sleeved or short sleeved and made of any material with the harness type strap hidden or visible and secured by any means The invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which 1. High visibility strips so the wearer can be seen day or night 2. Continuous nylon harness type strap stitched into the jacket under the high visibility strips from back to front and over the shoulders secured at the front 3. Strong Snap together buckle securing the Continuous harness type strap 4. Nylon grab strap securely anchored down to the Continuous nylon harness type strap providing a safe grab point for a potential rescuer 5. Logo panel optional 6. Electrically Insulated back panel stitched onto the back of the jacket under the grab strap 7. High visibility material to aid the wearer's visibility to others in the area
