Abstract

The LEAS is a series of layers of non woven polyester wadding and polyester shell material, that when put together will protect whatever is behind it from blast damage, shrapnel and other debris from explosions. LEAS material can be placed into bags, panels, boxes or any form of container to provide this protection. LEAS material can also be used in cold climates to provide excellent thermal insulation for buildings and to reduce their heat signatures to defend against thermal detection. LEAS material can be wrapped around individual items to protect them from shock and damage in much the same way as standard bubble wrap would.

Description

Lightweight Energy Absorption System (LEAS) LEAS is layered non woven polyester wadding, sewn onto polyester shell' material. When combined together into layers and enclosed into plastic/metal shells, bags, wall cavities, they become an efficient and effective form of energy absorption for the military.
As well as providing protection from shrapnel and blast damage, LEAS is a cost effective method of insulating buildings for the civilian market.
LEAS has the following properties...
1) Lightweight 2) Rot proof 3) Inexpensive 4) Multiple uses (see page 3) 5) Will not absorb water 6) Not effected by harsh climates 7) Efficient at absorbing energy The idea of using non woven polyester wadding for heat retention in clothing and sleeping bags is not a new one. However using it in multiple layers, en-cased in. containers/panels/bags to absorb blast damage I believe is.
Below is a typical piece of LEAS material. The white component is the non woven polyester wad-ding and the darker material is the polyester shell.
Both parts are needed for the system to work.
