Abstract

A non-contacting sealing device (20) for a bearing having a labyrinth seal with a static shut-off (34) device. The seal may be an integral part of the bearing or a substantially attachable member (30,32) to a bearing (21,22). In a preferred embodiment, the overall length of the bearing is not greater than the commercially available lengths shown in ISO/ANSI standards and major bearing supplier catalogues.
