Abstract

A radio-opaque sticker comprises a sheet of paper, coated on one side with an adhesive, the other side having a layer of radio-opaque material. The radio-opaque material is aluminium and the sticker may be circular in shape. The radio-opaque material may be of varying size and thickness. The sticker is adhered to a patient's body or clothing and an x-ray then taken incorporating the area containing the sticker. The degree of magnification or minification can then be determined based on the known size of the sticker. The sticker can therefore be used as a reference marker.

Description
The invention relates to a device to be used in combination with medical and veterinary X-rays In diagnostic procedures.
It is well known and proven that all X-ray Images suffer from a factor of increased or decreased magnification depending on the distance the subject is from the emitter and X-ray film. When examining an X-ray film, it is therefore very difficult to accurately measure distances because the extent of magnification of the film Is unknown. The "X-Ray Self Adhesive Sizing Marker" has been designed to solve this problem by providing a reference marker of known dimensions on every X-ray In the plane of interest.
The "X-Ray Self Adhesive Sizing Marker" is a circular self adhesive non marking sticker that easily adheres to clothing or skin on one side and has adhered to it on the other side, a radio-opaque thin aluminium disc of varying sizes and thicknesses (to allow for the X-ray measurement of different body parts).
Construction of the "Self Adhesive Sizing Marker": The Self Adhesive Sizing Marker" is made from a circular piece of paper that has a non marking adhesive applied to one side of it. On the other side of the paper is permanently adhered a thin radio-opaque aluminium disc of varying sizes and thicknesses. (fig 1)

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. A self adhesive thin sheet of paper sticker that has adhered to the other side, a disc of circular radio-opaque aluminium used to determine the magnification of X-ray films.
  2. 2. A self adhesive sticker with radio-opaque aluminium discs of varying sizes and thicknesses to allow for the imaging of different body parts irrespective of X-ray dose.
  3. 3. A self adhesive sticker allows easy non marking adhesion to skin or clothing.
  4. 4. A self adhesive X-ray sizing sticker as herein described by all the above claims and illustrated in the enclosed drawings below.
