Colour kinematography. - Relates to multicolour kinematograph films in three or four colurs of the kind described in Specification 224,569, comprising four component colour record images produced in pairs on two supports which, after printing and finishing are cemented together in register, and more particularly to photographs &c. of the screen filter type produced on material of the kind described in Specification 224,571, [Class 98 (ii), Photographic processes &c.], in the manner described in Specification 233,990. According to the invention, the colour screen layer of the film material is made thicker than that described in Specification 224,571, [Class 98 (ii), Photographic processes &c.], in order that, after the colour record images have been produced in the panchromatic silver emulsion layer as described in Specification 233,990 by printing from positive clichÚs, the colour screen layer may be sensitized, as with bichromate, and printed on through these colour record images, whereafter the bichromate images are devloped in hot water, and the silver images are dissolved out in known manner, or the gelatin layer containing these images is removed by the hot water, leaving positive colour record images in coloured gelatin. Instead of bichromate, salts of iron, uranium, silver, &c. may, with the necessary changes, be employed. The panchromatic emulsion layer and the'colour screen layer, which are each about .001 inch thick, are preferably coated upon opposite sides of the support; 'if coated on the same side, a separating layer of gelatin is interposed. The positive printing clichÚs may be produced by reversal from negatives made as described in Specification 224,572, [Class 98 (ii), Photographic processes &c.]. The sensitizing of the colour screen layer and its printing may be performed in apparatus as described in Specification 14433/12, [Class 98 (ii), Photoa<SP>r>aphic processes &c.]; and the development may be performed in apparatus as described in Specification 28875/12, [Class 98 (ii), Photographic processes &c.], provided with an endless belt to which the film is attached by rubber solution. The operation of cementing the component supports together to form the finished film may be that described in Specification 232,302 for face-to-face cementing, but the components may also be cemented back to back or face to back.
