Description

DISPOSABLE PRE-FILLED BABY BOTTLE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates in general to baby bottles and in particular to corn partrnentalized disposable baby bottles.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Powdered baby forrnula is a popular choice for feeding infants, in developing countries as well as in developed countries. The baby forrnula rnust be prepared properly in order to be safe and keep the baby healthy. It is recornrnended also to sterilize the bottle's cornponents. The ingredients, i.e. solvent and powdered baby forrnula are carefully rneasured while adding to the baby bottle. At places in which water sources are contarninated or otherwise hazardous for hurnan consurnption, a preparatory action is requirered for rnaking the food in the baby bottle acceptable for intake.
Sornetirnes, boiling the water will be a sufficient action, but in other cases of sorne biological and chernical contarnination, rnore drastic steps are required.
Measuring the proper arnount of powdered baby forrnula in unclean surrounding is also a risky task, cornprornising the feeding baby. When going outside for a journey or even for shopping, it may be inconvenient to prepare baby feeding bottle; measuring the proper amount powdered baby formula and dissolved with the right amount of solvent. At hospitals pediatrics ward preparing baby feeding bottle may be an expensive time consumer and contaminations may occur. At infancy, the immune system is developing and not fully functional, therefore it is vital that equipment used for preparing baby food is sterilised to ensure harmful microbial contaminants are eliminated.
US patent No. 2,885,104 discloses disposable cartridge capable of being removably installed in a bottle. The cartridge has two compartments, each holding the ingredient of a predetermined solution. The two compartments are sealed and mutually separated using a sealing junction. To rupture the sealing junction one needs to pull a tab, thereby rupturing the seal between the two compartments, permitting intermixture of the ingredients.
US patent No. 6,612,428 Bi discloses a disposable/recyclable baby bottle comprising dispenser having a plastic bag with two compartments, one containing water and the other a baby feed formula, and a connector having a neck member that holds the bag. The bag has a sealed seam which is easily rupturable separating the compartments. The connector may have a variety of caps for dispensing the mixed liquid and solid.
One common and significant feature of the aforementioned patents is that either in the process of preparing the baby feed formula or in the process of assembling the bottle components, contaminations may occur.
UK patent application No. 0B2392629A discloses a fully integrated baby bottle which comprises a flexible, disposable pouch. The pouch is made from recyclable plastic with an extruded plastic teat, security seal and resalable lid. The pouch may have a thin shape and may be pre filled with milk. The bottle may be warmed prior to use. The bottle is discarded after use.
US patent No. 7,287,657 Bi discloses a disposable baby bottle that contains a bag of pre-filled formula with a nipple assembly, the nipple assembly has a pop off cap for opening and sealing purposes.
One common and significant feature of the aforementioned last two disclosures is that the baby bottle includes of ready to drink baby food, which, by being wet, is expected to have a short shelf life.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
The present invention relates to a disposable baby bottle including two separately pre-filled compartments within. One compartment is to contain liquid, a solvent able to dissolve or emulsfy the baby feed formula typically in the form of dry powder contained in the other compartment. The two compartments are mutually separated by a barrier. When the care-giver is required to feed the baby, he or she is to disrupt the barrier between the compartments, such as by rotating the lower compartment relative to the upper compartment. This disruption results in unification of the two separated compartments. As a result, the baby powder formula can intermix with the liquid, contained in the other compartment, creating a consumable mixture. The baby bottle of the invention preferably features also an integrated teat, and typically a cap covering the teat.
Typically, the baby bottle of the invention is made of materials complying with local regulations. Powdered baby formula comes in a variety of product properties as known to a man skilled in the art of infant artificial substitute formulas preparation. For different infant needs, corresponding ingredients and formulations are provided in any specific bottle, also in conjuction with a specific amount of liquid.
Referring to Fig. 1, a side view of the disposable pre-filled baby bottle of the present invention is shown. Bottle 10 is partitioned into two separated compartments 20 and 22, barrier 24, an integrated teat 26, and a teat cover 28.
In some embodiments of the present invention, the upper compartment 22 is connected to the lower compartment 20. Lower compartment 20 contains the baby formula keeping it dry until the barrier is broken, allowing the content of the lower compartment 20 to mix with the liquid, such as, but not limited to solvent adequate for suspension of the upper compartment 22. In such embodiments, when the user desires to blend the baby formula stored in the lower comportment 20 with the liquid in the upper compartment 22, rotating the lower compartment 20 relatively to the upper compartment 22 until the sealed opening opens, enabling the powder to mix with the liquid. In another distribution, the upper compartment 22 is filled the solid baby formula, while the lower compartment 20 contains the liquid. In one embodiment of the present invention, the teat cap 28 can preferably be used for compressing the teat 26, thus prevent liquid being poured from the bottle. In another aspect of the present invention, in order to preserve the bottle in a sterile condition cap 28 seals the bottle.
is Referring now to Fig. 2, an isometric view of the disposable pre-filled baby bottle 10 of the present invention shows the lower compartment 20, barrier 24, upper compartment 22 with it integrated teat 26, and a cap 28 covering the teat. In one embodiment of the present invention, when the care-giver is required to feed the baby, he or she is to break or otherwise interrupt barrier 24 between the compartments, such as by rotating the lower compartment 20 relative to the upper compartment 22. The rotation results in opening a barrier 24 separating the two compartments 20 and 22.
One type of barrier in accordance with the present invention is demonstrated with reference to Fig. 3A. Barrier 40 contains two overlapping discs joined together by central pivot 42. Disc 44 is integral with the lower part of the upper compartment 22, and disc 46 is integral with the upper part of the lower compartment 20. Each of these discs has two opposing openings. In one embodiment of the invention the two openings equally divide the disc to four parts, joint together by central pivot 42. Barrier 40 between the two compartments keeps the compartments separated when the openings of discs 44 and 46 are mutually disaligned. This is further explained with reference to Fig. 3A-B. When the barrier is sealed, openings 48 of disc 44 and openings 50 of disc 46 are disaligned, allowing no overlap between. Rotating the lower compartment 20 relative to the upper compartment 22 cause openings 48 to align with openings 50, thus interrupt sealing barrier between the compartments.
Although the foregoing is provided for purposes of illustrating, explaining and describing embodiments of the present invention, modifications and adaptations to these embodiments will be apparent to those skilled in the art and may be made without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention.
BENEFITS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
A disposable pre-filled baby bottle in accordance with the present invention is preferably manufactured from recyclable plastic materials.
Consequently, after consuming the prepared formula, the bottle can be recycled, as carried out by recycling programs in many countries. The disposable pre-filled baby bottle may be designed to match to a variety of infants and toddlers growth stages as well as to a veriety of dietary schemes. A variety of bottle sizes, teats, and powdered baby formula may be offered to the customers. A bottle of the invention is preferably made of materials complying with local regulations. If the care-giver prefers to serve the prepared formula warm, he or she can heat the bottle in a pan of hot water for a few minutes, or hold the bottle under the hot water tap for a few minutes.
