Abstract

A shower head enables a user to mix both water and shower gel within the unit for simultaneous dispensing onto the body. The shower head has an additional inlet which accepts a miniaturised bottle which may be filled with shower gel. A valve regulates the flow of shower gel into the mixing chamber, which may include a viewing window. A cap plugs the inlet when no bottle is attached to prevent leaks.

Description

The Combination Shower Head.
This invention is a shower head which can dispense both shower gel and water, simultaneously.
When using the shower, the act of washing involves the application of water and shower gel or soap as a separate/two handed action. This can be time consuming and labour intensive.
The combination shower head gets round this problem by dispensing the water and shower gel together directly onto the body, hair etc. and at the flick of a switch changes to a rinse only device to allow the user to rinse themselves clean of the water/gel mix.
The shower head itself has a standard water inlet and outlet but also has an inlet for shower gel which is then dispensed with the water at the outlet end of the device.
The drawing on page 5 depicts the following key elements: I. The water/gel spray which is emitted from the centre of the outlet head.
2. The water spray surrounding the water/gel spray.
3. The internal pipe between the water inlet and water outlet.
4. The internal pipe between the shower gel mixing chamber and the gel outlet.
5. A cylindrical plug valve which regulates the flow of the water/gel mix from anywhere between "of?' and "maximum flow". The plan view shows the flow of the water/gel mix which can be seen at a. whilst the action of the plug valve can be seen at b. The dotted lines shown through the plug valve represents a bored hole through which the water/gel mix can flow. The cylindrical body of the plug valve is coated in rubber to provide additional sealing qualities. The drawing depicts the plug valve in the "off" position.
6. The plug valve operating lever. Markings on the shower head body assist the user in finding the optimum position (off -intermediate -maximum flow) for the water/gel mixture flow.
7. The shower gel and water mixing chamber. This also has a viewing window to enable the user to check that the flow and mixing action is satisfactory.
8. The shower gel inlet securing cap. This plugs the inlet when no shower gel bottle is attached to the shower head. The inner edge of the cap has a captive gasketlseal to prevent any leakage from the shower head. The securing cap connects to the shower head via a screw cap at the base of the shower gel inlet point.
9. Miniaturised shower gel bottle. This is the source of the shower gel for the water/gel mixing chamber.
10. The shower gel inlet point. A hollow needle like spout onto which the miniaturised shower gel bottle connects via a screw thread at its base.
1 1. A non return valve to prevent the water and shower gel mixing together and getting back into the mains water system.
12. Water inlet point.
13. Threaded connection point for existing shower hose.

Claims (5)

  1. Claims.1. The combination shower head allows water and shower gel to be mixed within the device.
  2. 2. The combination shower head allows the user to apply water and shower gel simultaneously.
  3. 3. The flow of the water/gel mix can be regulated according to the users needs using the plug valve operating lever.
  4. 4. The water/gel mixing function can be turned off allowing the device to dispense water only.
  5. 5. The miniaturised shower gel bottle is re-usable and can be refilled.
