Abstract
An in-line switch device for use between a PC and an Internet connection comprises two female RJ45 connectors interconnected via a mechanical switch. The PC and Internet connection are each connected to one of the RJ45 connectors and the switch is operable to break the connection between the two connectors thereby severing the link between the PC and the Internet. The device may also use a timer to make its use automatic. Provides parental control over a child's access to the Internet.
Description
Switch to turn off any connected port on a Router or modem.
Backgrounds of invention.
After spending countless hours aftempting to configure the parental controls on a router with at best intermiftent at best results, search of the Internet produced a list of the best working Router with controls, which were purchased, and as usual did not work.
PC based Parental controls are easily bypassed by a savvy teen, the use ofUSB pen drives containing a Operating system will bypass any PC based parental controls.
Routers can be easily overridden from the child's own PC if not configured properly.
This is a cost effective way of stopping the Internet to the childs PC with no way around it remotely.
Simple in use, its just a switch that in an ON state servers the internet to the PC, OFF state stops it.
Fixes to any surface via sticky pad Future versions will have a timer placed in to make its use automatic.
A two RJ45 female input devices are connect to each other via wires, breaking the circuit is a mechanical switch the user turns on or off.
Its purpose is primarily as a parental control, the user can easily stop internet traffic to the connected port at the rear or front of the router.
