Abstract

A wireless purging device for removing oxygen from copper pipes using nitrogen in the air conditioning and refrigeration industries comprises a wireless remote switch 6, which is powered by a hard wired and/or battery power supply 9, which energises a normally closed solenoid valve 4, which then allows a gas to pass through into a pipe with a series of shrader valves 5, allowing a choice of the gas direction.

Description

Wireless purging device This invention relates to a wireless unmanned purging device initially designed for the Air-conditioning/Refrigeration industry.
When braizing copper pipe together installing Air-conditioning or Refrigeration oxidisation occurs on the copper inside and out, this causes a thin layer of soot to build up which is very damaging for the sensitive components internally on the machinery and also contaminates the refrigerant gas, At present the procedure used is to purge the pipework with nitrogen at a low pressure forcing all oxygen out and stopping the oxidisation occuring, However to do this an engineer must be braizing at one end of the pipework and another person at the other end turning the nitrogen on and off which can be up to 200 meters away, or in severe cases the engineer will work both ends wasting time money and nitrogen.
To overcome this the present invention proposes a wireless remote system which allows the engineer to turn the flow of nitrogen on and off from a distance halving the manpower saving time nitrogen and money. -The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 Shows the nitrogen being purged through one end of the pipe by the extra worker which is being braized by the engineer and shows the nitrogen slowly flowing through the pipe.
Figure 2 Shows how the transmitter will open the switch which will energise a normally closed solenoid valve connected to a nitrogen bottle allowing the nitrogen to flow through and out of the desired shrader valves and into the pipework being braized.
Figure 3 Shows solely the proposed wireless purging device.
A braided hose 3,is attached to a nitrogen gauge 2,and on the other end to a normally closed solenoid valve 4,which in turn is connected to a copper pipe with a series of shrader valves connected 5, a braided hose 7 can then be fitted to any number of those shrader valves depending on the number of pipes 8 are being braized, when the nitrogen gauge 2 is opened a desired pressure will flow through to the normally closed solenoid valve 4 and stop, you would then activate the wireless transmitter I which would close the switch 6 and allow the normally closed solenoid valve energise via the 240v/battery 9 and open allowing the nitrogen to flow through to the shrader valves 5 and only flow through the desired pipework 8 via the shrader valved braided hose 7, allowing the selected pipework to be braized without oxidisation occuring to the internal pipework, to stop the flow of nitrogen you would simply dc-activate the wireless transmitter 1 which will open the the reciever switch 6, which will de-energise the normally closed solenoid valve 4, causing the nitrogen to stop flow at that point.
Use fig 2.
