Abstract
A levering tool for removing a suspension arm from a ball joint may comprise two jaws attached to a box section, with tubing at one end of the box section. One lever may be provided for use on cars, and another for use on light commercial vehicles. The mechanic, after removing the appropriate fasteners, locates the jaws of the lever onto the suspension arm and simply applies downward force on the lever forcing the arm off the ball joint.
Description
Background
(have been a mechanic Involved in the repair and maintenance of cars, fight commercial vehIcles and buses for over 35 years. During that time I have not found any tool that can easily lever the suspension arm from the bail joint
Technical Description
My Invention Is a levering tool that can easily lever the suspension arm from the bail joint The jaws of the lever are located onto the suspension arm, the mechanic then pushes down on the lever forcing the arm off the ball Joint This operation is illustrated In drawing 1. The length and weight of the lever makes this an easy operation. There are two types one for light oomrnerdal vehicles and the other for cars.
The mild steel Jaws, bar section and tubing are MIG welded together to produce a set of robust levers weighing 3.5kg for use on light commercial vehicles and 2.0kg for cars. Tests have proved that the construction of both levers are more than sufficient In strength to undertake this work.
