Abstract

The present invention relates to rifle magazines, and more particularly to an improved detachable magazine (100) for a rifle. The improved magazine (100) has upper and lower portions (220,222) molded from a high-impact polymer. Feed lips (215) at the top of the upper portion of the magazine (100) are optionally reinforced with stainless steel or another suitable metal. The molded lower portion (222) includes an integral floor (232), instead of a separate floor piece. The upper and lower portions (220,222) can be adhered together with a high-strength adhesive. The use of a high- impact polymer reinforced with metal feed lips (214) produces an impact-resistant, light-weight, and reliable magazine (100).
