Abstract
A carbon-type repositionable folding copy sheet is designed for use from the bottom of a note pad. The copy sheet would typically be attached to the base of the pad using a repositionable adhesive. The sheet may be folded in a V or Z configuration.
Description
TITLE
Folding copy system
DESCRIPTION
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a system for making copies of notes especially for notes from re-positional adhesive pads such as the post-it note type pads.
The invention would be of particular use to any one who wanted to write a note while also wanting to keep a copy of that note, for example, an office worker might write a note to a colleague and attach it to some paperwork, while keeping a copy of the note for their own reference.
Summary of the Invention
The invention provides an easy way of making copies of notes using a standard note pad, by attaching the copying system to the bottom of the note pad, by the application of a low the adhesive strip to a portion of the fixed section of the copy system.
The copying system is made from a strip of foldable material, folded in to a V" or shape. The strip from which the copy system is composed will be of the same width as the pad which it is designed to fit to, the V shaped embodiment will be twice as long as the length of the pad to which it is designed to fit while the Z shaped embodiment will be three times as long as the length of the pad to which it is designed to fit.
The copy system may be made as a composite construction with a section being made from a material capable of producing copies attached to an other material which may or may not be capable of producing copies, or the whole copy system may be made of one material which is capable of producing copies.
Thecopysyst m is designedsothatitcanbe foldcdbackonits self, so thatwhen itis folded back in on its self it exactly fits over the base of the pad to which it is attached.
When the copy system is needed to produce a copy of a note, then it is unfolded with the outer/copying section being rotated almost through 360°, when the outer/copying section has nearly been rotated through 360° it is then inserted between the top sheet and the second top sheet of the pad to which it is attached. When the note has been written and the desired copy has been made, the outer/copying section is then rotated back, and stored at the bottom of the note pad for future use.
The copy system can be detached from one note pad and attached to an other note pad, or attached and detached to the same note pad as required.

In thisembodimentthecopysystem(1)isfoldedintoaZshape,althoughitisalsopossible to fold the system in to a V shape.
In this embodiment the copy system (1) is made out of one piece of carbon copy paper, however, it may also be made from a non-carbon based copy paper or may be made from a section of carbon copy paper attached to some other foldable material such as a strip of paper or plastic.
The copy system (1) is divided in to three equal sections, by two folds along its length.
The first fold (2) separates the fixed top section (3) from the middle section (4). The second fold (5) separates the middle section (4) from the outer/copying section (6).
In addition to the first fold (2) and the second fold (5) there are two other folds on the 7,-folded copy system (1), both of which are in the middle section (4) of the Z-folded copy system (I), and enable the bottom/copying section (6) to be positioned in one of two positions between the top sheet (7) and the second sheet (8) of the note pad (10).
The third fold (9) is half way along the length of the Z-folded copy system (1), and is so positioned that when the Z-folded copy system (1) is folded out and over along that fold the top edge of the outer/copying section (6a), can be positioned under the top edge of top sheet (7a), enabling the full surface of the top sheet (7) to be used to copy on to the full surface of the second sheet (8). If the third fold (9) is to be used to fold the Z-folded copy system (1) around then the top sheet (7) must first be removed from the second sheet (8), and then the outer/copying section (6) can be folded around from the bottom of the note pad (10) and placed fully over the second sheet (8) before the top sheet (7) is attached over/on top of the outer/copying section (6). This will enable a full copy to be made.
The forth fold (11) is positioned a little over halfway down the Z-folded copy system (1), with the distance between the third fold (9) and the forth fold (11) being approximately half the thickness of the average strip of low tac adhesive used on post-it note type pads.
The forth fold (11) is positioned so that the outer/copying section (6) can be inserted between the top sheet (7) and the second sheet (8), with the outer edge of the bottom/copying section (6a) sitting just below the strip of low tac adhesive which attaches the top sheet (7) to the second sheet (8). This enables as full a copy to be made as possible with out removing and repositioning the top sheet (7).
In other embodiments of the Z folded copy system, the position of the third and forth folds can vary according to the thickness of the pad to which the copy system is designed to fit.
In an other embodiment, the Z folded system has a single fold across the middle section, with the middle section being made from a sufliciently flexible material to allow the bottom/copying section to accommodate a variety of thickness of pads and also to accommodate a variety of positions over the second top sheet on the pad to which it is attached.
In an other embodiment the Z folded copy system has one fold in the middle section around which the outer/copying section rotates, with the middle section being made from a sufilciently flexible material, which allows the bottom/copying section to flex around different thickness pads and to be placed in a vanety of positions over the second sheet in the pad ready for copying.
In yet other embodiments of the Z folded copy system there can be any number of fold marks in the middle section of the copy system to allow for a number of different thickness pads, the limit on the thickness of the pad being determined by the length of the sections of the copy system, if the height of the pad exceeds the length of a section of the Z folded copy system, then the outer/copying section of the Z folded copy system would not be able to fully extend over the second sheet of the note pad, with the top section still being fixed to the bottom of the pad. In this case a full copy can be made from the top sheet of the pad on to the second sheet in the pad, but the copy system must first be detached from the base of the pad.
In an other embodiment of the invention the copy system has only one fold, with the copy systembeingfoldedintohalf, tomakeaVshape.TheVfoldedcopysystemworksinthe same way as the Z folded copy system, in that it is stored on the under side of a pad of notes, and that it has an outer/copying section which is rotated almost through 360°, from the base of a note pad around to the top of a note pad, where the outer/copying section can be inserted between the top and second top sheet of the pad to make copies, but its outer edge can not align with the top edge of note pad, because the V folded copy system will betwiceaslongastheheightofthenotesonthenotepadtowhichitisattached,to enable it to neatly fold under the base of the pad when not in use, so the thickness of the pad will prevent the outer/copying section from covering the whole surface of the second top note in the note pad, unless the V folded copy system in detached from the bottom of the note pad to which it is attached, and then it can cover the whole surface of the second top note in the note pad. In most instances the V folded copy system will be designed to fit to the base of a pack of post-it type notes, which are not usually particularly thick, so that the outer/copying section will be able to cover the majority of the surface of the second top note in the note pad when the outer/copying section has been rotated around from the bottom of the pad, and while still attached to the bottom of the pad.
In an other embodiment of the invention it is possible to have one or more copying sheets/leaves attached to the outer/copying section of the copy system enabling multiple copiesto be made.
