Abstract

A construction panel system comprising inter-engaging panel members, that can be joined together to form a structure. Adjacent panels are locked together by a male-female connection, the two halves of the connection being integrally formed into the panel edge. Each male connection member has a further protrusion that extends into a complimentary recess formed within the structure of each female connection member, when the connection members are engaged with each other. This further engagement extends the full length of each connection and inhibits the ingress of weather effects through the connection. The panels are made of Glass reinforced plastic (GRP). The male and female connection parts are formed to be flexible enough to allow the clipping of the two parts together. Door and window frames may be provided in panels. The structures may be used as vehicle display units.

Description

POD PANELS Description
Pod Panels are components designed to interlink to form temporary buildings. The panels are made from GRP but other plastic materials may be used subsequently.
The panels link together without the use of additional fasteners.
Door and window units are also designed to be fitted without additional fasteners and hinging devices.
Initially Pod Panels have been designed as components to form display pods for classic and other valuable items.
These items are often owned for their intrinsic value rather than to be used on a daily basis. Pod Display units are designed with a glass wall to allow visual display whilst the exhibit whilst the exhibit is in a protected environment.
It is intended that pod panels will be used in many more applications, subsequently, where ease and speed of construction are desirable.
Pod Panels will create buildings that can be temporary but will also be tough and durable. The key features of a panel are its interlocking vertical or horizontal clip.
The male clip and engages with the female clip end when the panels are presented to each other at a slight angle.
When the panels are then adjusted to a straight line or 9O angle the interlock becomes solid and weatherproof. The clip ends being of hollow construction allowing a degree of plastic compression and stretch as sections are pressed together assist the interlocking process.
The initial door design relates to the requirements of a vehicle display unit. It has an up and over function and requires no parts that are additional to the frame and door mouldings.
The door is balanced by it's own constructed weight distribution allowing it to lock in a horizontal position when open.
