Abstract

A spine stretching device comprises two freestanding units each having an underarm support 4 such that a user can suspend their body between the two units thus stretching the spine under the user's own body weight. Each unit may have a hand grip 3. Both the underarm supports 4 and hand grips 3 may be adjustable in height. Each unit may include both a level and an inclined foot plate 5.

Description

DESCRIPTION
This invention is an apparatus designed to give a person the ability to stretch their spine using the weight of their own body in an upright position.
The apparatus is designed to be as flexible as possible and will accommodate any size of person in width and height; the individual units are free standing and have sliding support bars (Fig. 1).
These are extended by pulling up the bar to fit under the anns of the person and lock into position with locking nuts (Fig. 2)., when the height bar is at the required level, adjustable grip handles can also be set at the required height to suit the length of the person's arms (Fig. 3).
A cylindrical underarm support roll can also be adjusted to face in or out of the apparatus (Fig. 4) to also accommodate body width.
The foot plates are the key to the apparatus and are designed as, an outside foot plate nearest the frame (which is level) and a second which is dropped lower at the front and decreases in height to the rear, giving the person the ability to use any part of the step to drop their heels onto and therefore stretching their spine using the weight of their body.
