Description
BIT HAVING AN IDENTIFICATION FUNCTION
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a hand tool, and more particularly to a bit having an identification function.
2. Description of Related Art
A conventional bit in accordance with the prior art comprises a driving head and a connecting portion connected to the driving head. The driving head is used to drive a screw. The connecting portion is used to be connected to a hand tool or a pneumatic tool. The connecting portion has a mark to identify the specification of the bit. The conventional bit is made of metal. The depth of the mark is quite shallow. After a period of usage, the mark is worn such the bit has no identification function.
The present invention has arisen to mitigate andlor obviate the disadvantages of the conventional bit.
The main objective of the present invention is to provide an improved bit having an identification function.
To achieve the objective, the bit having an identification function includes a head portion and a shank portion connected to the head portion. The shank portion is longer than the head portion. The shank portion has a neck portion formed therein. A recognition portion is disposed in the neck portion.
The recognition portion includes a first ring portion formed in the neck portion and a second ring portion formed in an outer peripheral of the first ring portion.
The first ring portion and the second ring portion are made by plastic injection molding. A width of the second ring portion is less than that of the first ring portion such that the first ring portion is revealed.
Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a bit having an identification function in accordance with the present invention, showing the bit without the recognition portion; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the bit having an identification function in accordance with the present invention, showing the bit with the first ring portion; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the bit having an identification function in accordance with the present invention; Figs. 4-6 show the other embodiments of the bit having an identification function, wherein each first ring portion showing each different type of the head portion; Figs. 7-9 show the other embodiments of the bit having an identification function, wherein each second ring portion showing each different size of the head portion; and Fig. 10 shows the operation of the bit having an identification function in accordance with the present invention.
Referring to the drawings and initially to Figs. 1-3, a bit having an identification function in accordance with the present invention comprises a head portion 10 and a shank portion 20 connected to the head portion 10. The shank portion 20 has a section of hexagon to adapt to a pneumatic tool (shown in Fig. 10), a power tool, or a tool handle.
The head portion 10 is a Phillips type driver to drive a fastener with a star recess, i.e. a screw. The head portion 10 is disposed in one end of the shank portion 20.
The shank portion 20 is longer than the head portion 10. The shank portion 20 has a neck portion 21 formed therein. The neck portion 21 is provided to dispose a recognition portion 30. The neck portion 21 is disposed in a middle of the bit to prevent from reducing the strength of the bit.
The recognition portion 30 is provided for identifying the type and the size of the head portion 10. The recognition portion 30 includes a first ring portion 31 disposed in the neck portion 21. The first ring portion 31 is made by plastic injection molding such that the different color/texture of the first ring portion 31 is corresponding to different type/size of the head portion 10. A width of the first ring portion 31 is equal to that of the neck portion 21. A thickness of the first portion 21 is less than a depth of the neck portion 21.
The recognition portion 30 further includes a second ring portion 32 disposed in the neck portion 21 and formed on an outer peripheral of the first ring portion 31. A width of the second ring portion 32 is less than that of the first ring portion 31 such that the first ring portion 31 is revealed. The second ring portion 32 is made by plastic injection molding such that the different color/texture of the second ring portion 32 is corresponding to different type/size of the head portion 10.
The first ring portion 31 and the second ring portion 32 of the recognition portion 30 are arranged to provide an identification function to distinguish different type/size of the head portion 10. The first ring portion 31 and the second ring portion 32 of the recognition portion 30 are made by plastic injection molding and disposed in the neck portion 21; therefore the recognition portion is not worn easily to keep the identification function.
Referring to Figs. 4-6, the different embodiments of the bit having the identification function in accordance with the present invention are illustrated.
Fig. 4 shows a bit with a Phillips type driver. Fig. 5 shows a bit with a flat blade type driver. Fig. 6 shows a bit with a hexagon type driver. Each first ring portion 31 of the recognition portion 30 of the bits is different. Therefore user can use the first ring portion 31 to distinguish the type of the head portion 10.
Referring to Figs. 7-9, the different embodiments of the bit having the identification function in accordance with the present invention are illustrated.
Figs. 7-9 show the bits with a Phillips type driver. Each second ring portion 32 of the recognition portion 30 of the bits is different. Therefore user can use the second ring portion 32 to distinguish the size of the head portion 10.
The operation of the bit in accordance with the present invention is illustrated in Fig. 10.
Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
