Abstract

A fitting 1 comprising a first fixing means for securing a stop end toe board 2 and a second fixing means for securing a toe board 3. The first and second fixing means secure the boards 2, 3 orthogonally to each other. The fitting 1 may be made from galvanised steel or heavy duty plastic. It may be designed to fit over the two boards 2 and 3. The fitting may have a tightening thumb screw or a ribbed back to prevent slipping. The fitting is said to save time and labour in the erection of toe boards.

TITLE
TOE BOARD FITTING
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A NEW FiniNG FOR USE ON A SCAFFOLD ERECTION.
NEW HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS NOW INSIST THAT A STOP END TOE BOARD IS USED
ON EVERY SCAFFOLD ERECTION. A STOP END TOE BOARD IS USED WITH A TOE BOARD ON EACH LIFT ( PLATFORM) AND IS A SAFETY FEATURE ENSURING DEBRIS DOES NOT FALL OVER THE EDGE.
PRESENTLY THE ONLY WAY TO SECURE THE STOP END TOE BOARD IS TO USE A FIVE FOOT
TUBE AND SECURE IT WITH TWO CLIPS.ON A LARGE CONSTRUCTION THIS MEANS USING NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF FITTINGS AND 5 FOOT TUBES WHICH CAUSES A LOT OF EXTRA LIFTING AND EXPENSE ON A JOB.
TO OVERCOME THIS PROBLEM I HAVE DEVISED A NEW FITTING WHICH SECURES THE STOP
END TOE BOARD TO THE ADJACENT TOE BOARD THUS SAVING TIME, LABOUR AND COST TO EACH ERECTION.
AN EXAMPLE OF THE FITTING WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED BY REFERRING TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS: FIGURE 1 SHOWS HOW PRESENTLY A STOP END TOE BOARD IS SECURED.
FIGURE 2 SHOWS A STOP END TOE BOARD CLIP FITTED SECURELY ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION.
THE FITTING I MAY BE MADE OF GALVANISED STEEL OR HEAW DUTY PLASTIC AND IT IS
DESIGNED TO FIT OVER THE TWO BOARDS 2 AND 3.THE FITTING MAY HAVE A THRUMB SCREW TO TIGHTEN OR RIBBED BACK TO PREVENT SLIPPING IF NECESSARY. CLAtM
