Abstract
The invention relates to a flat pack bagless water butt comprising a lid 1, a body tube 2 with integral seal 3, a base stand 5, a base bung 6, base clamps 4, a tap 7, tap nut 11, a tap mount 9 and a water level indicator 12. The seal preferably fits into seal channel (14 figure 2) and is held in position by the base clamps which are pushed down into the channel thereby compressing the seal. The lid preferably has a child proof removable inner piece for inspection. As there is no plastic bag liner, the problem of liners becoming punctured or sliding down with use are overcome.
Description
Flat pack bagless water butt This invention relates to a flat pack bagless water butt.
Water butts are commonly available and used in many gardens beside the house for collecting and recycling rainwater from the down pipes. There are many types, shapes and sizes and are usually made from either wood or plastic and a few are flat pack self assembly units.
However, existing flat pack water butts have a plastic bag I liner which enable the unit to be water tight. These bag liners can be punctured, slide down with use, deteriorate with time and can be fiddly to insert correctly on assembly and snagged and therefore a potential leak hazard.
To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a flat pack water butt which is bagless and having no bag / liner. The flat pack bagless water butt also has a water level indicator and an integral stand.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a flat pack bagless water butt with the components in exploded form.
Figure 2 shows a cut away section of a flat pack bagless water butt sealing detail.
Figure 3 shows a flat pack bagless water butt assembled.
Figure 1 shows a flat pack bagless water butt in exploded form showing the lid 1, body tube 2, integral seal 3, base clamps 4, base stand 5, base bung 6, tap 7, tap hole 8, tap mount 9, tap nut 11 and water level indicator tube 12.
The base bung 6 is screwed tightly into the hole on base stand 5. The tap7 is inserted into the tap hole 8 on the body tube 1, through the hole in the tap mount 9 and secured with tap nut 11.The body tube I is lowered onto the base stand 5 locating the tap mount 9 into the slotsl 0 on the base stand 5 and ensuring the integral seal 3 is inserted into the seal channel 14.
Figure 2 shows, in Cut away section, one profile shape of the separated integral seal 3 on the body tube 2, the seal channel 14 on the base stand 5 and the base damp 4. Other seal profile shapes can indude a wedge shape which is pushed into a receiving tapered channel.
Once the body tube I has been lowered and the seal 3 inserted into the seal channel 14 the base clamps 4 are inserted and pushed down into the seal channel 14 thus compressing and securing the integral seal 3 by locating, and click locking, the base damp clips 15 into the damp slots 16.
The water level indicator tube 12 is vertically fitted onto tap 7 and the lid I is attached to the body tube 2 retaining the water level indicator tube 12 in clasp 17. The lid I has a child proof, twist out removable inner piece for inspection leaving the lid rim attached for rigidity.
