Abstract
A neck and shoulder support <B>1</B> comprises a plastic one-piece mould which may have a centre lip <B>2.</B> The support rests on top of a person's back and shoulders to protect the shoulders and the spinal column of a weight lifter from damage. The support may have a soft non-slip base <B>4</B>.
Description
Description
This invention relates to the Neck and Shoulders Support made for the protection of the human Spinal column during the physical exercise commonly referred to as the Squat'.
Presently, when a man or a woman engages in the physical exercise known as the Squat', the rounded metal bar which is placed over the back of the shoulders, together with the attendant weights attached to the bar, are raised up to the level of the human shoulders and the metal bar is rested directly onto the spinal column situated at the base of the neck, thus causing, at the base of the neck, sever depression on the bones of the spinal column and the serious risk of injury or damage to the spinal cord.
During the physical exercise, when the torso is bent forwards and the knees are lowered and raised, there is a great risk of additional injury to the spinal column and or damage to the muscles of the shoulders.
Therefore, the ultimate purpose of my invention is to substantially reduce, if not entirely eliminate, that risk of substantial physical harm to the human spine and the muscles of both shoulders by ensuring; a) That the combined weight of the metal bar and attendant weights, is evenly spread across the entire shoulders and b) There is no possibility of any contact between the said metal bar and the spinal column during the entire physical exercise.

- Claims I.A neck and Shoulder Support (1) comprising of a reinforced plastic mould.
- 2. A Neck and Shoulder Support (I) comprising a reinforced plastic mould with centre lip (2)
- 3.A Neck and Shoulder Support (I) as described in claim (I) and claim (2), made in the shape and resting on the top of the back of the human shoulders (3)
- 4.A Neck and Shoulder Support (I) as described in claims (I) and (2) and (3) which has a soft, non slip, base. (4)
