Abstract

A smoke alarm with a remote motion sensor for use in a kitchen wherein, when the motion sensor detects movement within the kitchen, it disables the smoke detector from activating. A fail safe is provided wherein the smoke alarm will activate as normal if the motion sensor does not detect movement within a defined period and smoke is detected. De-activating the smoke alarm when the kitchen is occupied avoids false alarms caused by cooking.

Description

Kitchen smoke alarm with remote motion sensor This is a smoke alarm designed specifically for kitchen use, which has a remote motion sensor.
This has been designed to eliminate the constant false alarms which are activated when cooking is in progress by person or persons, ie burnt toast, fast oriental cooking (hot wok), that is anything that generates a smokey atmosphere. The idea is to stop members of the public removing batteries from smoke detectors by kitchens, which results in undetected house fires leading to lose of property injury or death.
The system works using the remote motion senor which detects movement in the kitchen thus disabling the smoke detector from activating whilst cooking. The system has a fail safe which if it does not detect movement within a defined period but detects smoke the system will activate as normal, thus alerting the home-owner to a potential problem. laims
