Abstract

A roller mounting assembly for sliding doors comprises a door clamp 12 securable to a top edge of a first door panel 20, and a roller assembly (10, Fig 3), 11 pivotably connected to the door clamp 12. Roller assembly (10), 11 is locatable in rolling engagement with a top edge of second door panel 21, supports second door panel 21, which is displaceable parallel to first door panel, and may comprise roller bearings (10) retained in housing 11. The pivotable connection comprises a pivot pin (14), and may be adjustable to enable housing 11 to be vertically adjusted with respect to clamp 12. The roller mounting assembly is for use with shower cubicles, and the pivotable connection allows it to be used with straight or curved panels.

Slider Door mounting assembly
The present invention relates to a mounting for a sliding door, particularly for shower cubicles, which eliminates the need to have a full width track or a guide rail.
With prior art arrangements, a sliding door has a door supported by a roller or bearing assemblies that are contained within a full width track, or partially within a track and partially on a guide rail attached to the panel glass. These configurations lead to a very bulky unit, and with the guide rail, an increased area for potential contamination when used for shower cubicles or doors.
The present invention aims to provide a reduced track width and a roller system that allows the door to slide along/over the top of the glass panel.
According to the present invention, there is provided a roller mounting assembly for sliding doors, comprising a door clamp securable to a top edge of first door panel, and a roller assembly pivotably connected to said door clamp, which roller assembly is locatable, in rolling engagement with a top edge of a second door panel, so that
.... said second door panel is supported thereby and displaceable substantially parallel • • •
to said first door panel.
• •
• • • •
The swivel arrangement of the roller assembly means that it can be used on a
• "***• quadrant unit, which hitherto would have required a full width track.
An adjustment system is also provided which allows the panels to be positioned so
• • •
• •• that the bearing assemblies and the roller system are aligned to allow the door to *•***• open smoothly.
An advantage of the roller assembly, supporting the door, is that it runs directly on the glass panel so that there is no requirement for a guide rail, which can be difficult to clean, thereby reducing potential contamination. Such an arrangement also
reduces the amount of assembly required and reduces the number of parts which have to be correctly aligned as part of the installation process.
The present invention will be described further with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig 1 illustrates a door mounting arrangement of the present invention;
Fig 2 illustrates a door mounting arrangement of the present invention in an end position; and
Fig 3 is an exploded view of the roller assembly.
The roller mounting system of the invention comprises a plurality of roller bearings 10 that are located within a housing 11, which is attached to a door clamp 12 mounted on the top of a door panel 20, by means of pivot pin 14 such that the roller bearing system 10, 11 can freely pivot with respect to the door clamp 12. The roller housing 11 is supported on, in rolling engagement with, a second door panel 21 so that the panels 20 and 21 are laterally displaceable with respect to one another.
The pivotal mounting of the roller bearing housing 11 to the door clamp 12 allows the unit to be used on a curved shower, as well as a straight shower unit. The pivotable mounting arrangement also accommodates any variability of straightness on the door panels.
An adjustment system is also included to allow the roller system and the bearing assemblies to be adjusted in a vertical direction, ensuring that the bearing assemblies and the roller system are correctly aligned, even allowing for manufacturing tolerances.
