Abstract

A method for generating a well log from a downhole tool positioned in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation includes acquiring data associated with an operation of the downhole tool, identifying a plurality of events associated with the operation of the downhole tool, and selecting data points that are selected as a function of the plurality of events and a growth function, such as a linear progression or logarithmic progression, for transmission by the downhole tool. The method further includes determining values associated with the plurality of events and the data points for transmission by the downhole tool, transmitting to a surface system the determined values, and incorporating the transmitted data into the well log.
