Abstract

A garden table comprises a tabletop 14, a base part 10 and a water reservoir 4 to provide stability. The tabletop 14 may be placed on the ground, upside down, for assembly. The base part 10 may be attached to the top by screws 11 through attachments 12. The reservoir 4 may then be inserted into the base part, with holes 6 aligned with corresponding holes in the base and fixed by screws 5. The table may then be turned over to the orientation shown. The reservoir can be filled via openings 15 and 9 whilst the table is assembled. An umbrella or parasol may be inserted into the table through opening 15.

Description

Description Name
Table with integrated liquid reservoir
Field of the invention
The invention relates to garden furniture, specifically garden tables.
Garden tables are well known items of furniture for both domestic an industrial use. They are made of a variety of materials and methods of construction. This invention relates to tables that primarily comprise of a tabletop and a central base amongst other ancillary components.
Garden tables are relatively bulky items that are large in size and also heavy in weight. This means that for a given size of table the handling of the table is made easier if the weight of the table is low. In contrast when the table is in use it is advantageous for ii to be heavy to give more stability.
Another factor that affects the performance of the table is the size of the table base relative to the size of the tabletop. For a given size of table top the smaller the table base means that the table becomes less stable.
Whilst the user requires a stable table the size of the table base should be small enough to provide a comfortable amount of legroom.
This invention provides a solution for using a large table top with a relatively small table base by integrating a water reservoir into the table base. The reservoir is filled with water by the user when it is in its final position.
This dramatically increases the weight of the table base and hence increases stability whilst keeping a compact
size of table base.
Specific parts of the system and their importance.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which; Figure 1 shows the table assembled Figure 2 shows the table disassembled.
Figure 3 shows the side view of the table.
Referring to the drawing the table comprises a top structure 1, a base structure 2, a reservoir 4 and various fixings 11 & 5.
In order to assemble the table the tabletop 1 is placed on a flat surface with the fixing points facing upwards 17.
The base structure is then placed onto the top structure in which the bolt holes meet with the tabletop fixings 11 and tightened accordingly. The reservoir is then placed into the table structure in the orientation shown in figure 2. The mounting holes 6 in the reservoir 4 should be aligned with the mating nuts in the base structure 2 and then tightened. The whole assembly should then be lifted and turned so that the base section is on the ground with in the orientation shown in figure 1. The reservoir 4 should then be filled with water through both the hole 3 in the top section 1 into the hole in the reservoir 9. Description Name
