Abstract

Apparatus such as skateboards, skates and footwear incorporate rolling balls in place of wheels. The balls are mounted in sockets which are then placed on the underside of the apparatus to allow 360{ movement, in a horizontal plane, of the apparatus. The apparatus may have at least one ball which will be in contact with a floor.

Description

Ride On Multi Directional Ball Apparatus (RMDBA) The invention relates to the field of active and extreme sports that rely upon the use of wheels to move the user for example, skateboarding, skating, scootering and heeling. All of these use wheels on the equipment or apparatus as a means to move or propel the user. The use of wheels means that the direction of movement is limited to forward or backward In line with the direction of the wheel, restricting the quick changes in direction and the speed in which the user can spin around. To overcome these issues the present invention proposes that the wheels are replaced with free spinning balls that allow multi directional motion of the user.
The aim of the invention is to provide a more natural and greater range of directional movements than possible when using wheels. The invention includes the replacement of the wheels on sports equipment and apparatus inclusing skateboards, scooters, footwear with wheels, such as roller skates, in-line skates and heelys.
This replacement of the wheels with free spinning balls would allow the user to spin, turn and shde adding to the excitement of these activities. It would also allow the user to move from one location to another or be propelled from one place to another.
According to the first aspect of the invention there is provided a piece of equipment or apparatus which is fitted to the users feet or which the user stands upon where the motion of movement is able to occur through the use of at least one free spinning ball.
According to the second aspect of the invention the ball or balls allow unrestricted movement in any direction whilst in contact with the surface they are upon.
The RMDBA may comprise of at least one ball that can move freely in any direction when in contact with the surface it is upon.
The RMDBA may comprise of a free moving ball on the underneath of the apparatus and the user stands on or wears the AMOBA.
The RMDBA may comprise of at least on free moving ball that is in contact with the surface beneath the user and is not restricted and able to move in any direction within a horizontal plane.
The RMDBA is preferably with a ball made of a hard dent resistant material.
The RMDBA preferably uses a ball with a housing that allows unrestricted rotational movement of the ball.
The RMDBA is preferably made with a ball that is able to freely rotate and attached to an apparatus upon which a user can move.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawing Figure 1.
1 is the free moving ball 2 is the ball housing 3 is the apparatus upon which the ball is attached and the user can stand upon or attach to their feet.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. A RMDBA that uses at least one ball in contact with the surface beneath it allowing the movement of a person wearing or standing upon it.
  2. 2. A RMDBA according to claim 1 * in which the ball can move in any direction when in contact with a surface.
  3. 3. A RMDBA according to claim 2, in which the ball allows the user to move on the RMDBA form one place to another.
  4. 4. A RMDBA according to claim 3, in which the ball allows the RMDBA and the user to move in any direction within a parallel plane to the surface in which it is contact.
