Abstract
A hook means may have a central coil or ring fixing means 3 which may be an offset loop through which an elastic luggage strap or bungee cord may be passed. Said hook means may slide along said cord. A plurality of hooks 1 and 2 may be provided on the hook. When in use the elastic luggage strap is affixed in a normal manner and the movable hook device is adjusted in position on the cord and suitably affixed using hooks 1 or 2 or both. A plurality of movable hooks may be attached to the luggage cord.
Description
Universal securing cord This invention relates to a universal securing cord.
Bun gee elastic conis with a hook at each end, are instantly recognised all over the world, as a versatile, easily deployed, method of secunng objects to a rack or camer There is however a problem, in that each assembled cord has a definite length, and although various lengths are usually carried, it is rare for the cord to fit precisely the task involved with the available attachment points, end at the desired tension.
This can result in the overstretching of the cord to an available securing point, thus endangering the user, if the hook he is holding, slips from his grasp. Many people have lost the sight of one eye due to this.
The present invention avoids this dilemma, by introducing a system of double ended hooks, one at each end of a much longer cord, and a variable number of similar hooks, free to slide along the length of the cord between the end hooks.
As an example, let us say we have an object to be held down between two available attachment points. Using the invention, and for simplicity, only one sliding double hook, the double hook on the first end is secured to the holding point, and the cord pulled over the object and the sliding hook is secured to the second fixing point.
The remaining end hook is now used as a purchase to tension the cord over the object to hold it in place, and the remaining length of free cord is wound under tension, between the inner sections of the secured double hooks until the free end hook can be attached to either, or a suitable anchor position, under a reasonable tension.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawing.
A sketch of the double hook is shown, where I is the attachment hook to anchor points.
2 is the accommodation hook for the cord.
3 is the means whereby the cord is secured to the end hooks and also through which, the sliding hooks are attached to the cord.
