Abstract

The light box has a LED array having variable brightness that can be controlled either manually or automatically by an alarm clock. A sleeping user gently awakes with increasing intensity light, and optionally sound volume from an audio player, to simulate sunrise. The light intensity may fade on setting the clock, to simulate sunset. The light box can also operate in manual, nightlight or timer modes and a security mode that randomly operates the lamp at night to simulate occupation. The audio player can comprise a buzzer, radio or a digital audio, such as MP3, media player.

Description

LED Light Box with integrated Dawn -Dusk Simulator
Description:
A written description of how the application works is detailed on this page.
The unit consists of a variable brightness LED array with real time clock and single or multiple wake-up alarm clock function. The unit may also incorporate additional features such as; Nightlight -The LED light will stay at a user defined / preset level while the alarm clock is on.
Security -The LED light will switch on and off at random times throughout the night and early morning.
Timer -The LED light will switch on for a specified time set by the user then switch off.
Audio Player or Audible Device -The audio player / audible device can be any combination of buzzer I beeper, AM, FM, LW, SW, Digital or Satellite radio or digital audio media player (MP3, Internet or server streaming audio etc.) The LED light is fully variable in brightness.
Manual Control -The user can set the LED light to any level of brightness.
Automatic Control -The LED light will fade down in brightness to off (or nightlight setting) over a user defined (sunset) time when the alarm is set.
The LED light will fade up in brightness over a user defined (sunrise) time before the alarm time is due. i.e. If the user defined (sunrise time) is set to 30 minutes and the alarm clock is set to 07:00 the lamp will begin to fade up at 06:30 and reach full brightness at 07:00 at which time the audio player / audible device will sound if enabled. Thus the user is gently awoken with the LED light rather than abrupt waking with sound.
Other forms of automatic control; Security Mode -that randomly switches the LED light on and off during the evening and early morning hours. The purpose of this is to allow the user to set the unit so it appears as if a property is occupied when the user is away.
Timer mode -that will switch off the LED light when the timer reaches zero.

Claims (1)

  1. LED Light Box with integrated Dawn -Dusk Simulator Claims: The application claims that: The light can fade down to aid the users sleep and relaxation.
The user may be woken gently with light or light and sound increasing in volume, therefore avoiding abrupt sound as a traditional alarm clock.
The unit will be low power and energy efficient.
LED Light-box with timer which can be digitally set to a users preferred brightness setting from zero to full brightness.
