Abstract

A universal modular key holder with a sliding mechanism allowing keys to be projected out of the key holder when using keys or retracted and stored within the key holder when not in use comprises a clip allowing users to attach commercially available keys to the key holder. The key holder is modular allowing users to customize it to individual needs depending on the number of keys needed, expanding or reducing the key holder as needed. The key holder also has a Light Emitting Diode (LED).

Description

Description
The invention of SafeKeyP relates to a novel method of transporting & safe storage of commercially available keys in a key holder which also allows for added dexterity & grip when utilising keys.
Keys tend to be transported with a key ring and can be quite bulky and not only prove to be cumbersome and occasionally heavy, but also quite dangerous to ones person and property. This includes risk of damage to fingers and nails, especially nail beds, when reaching for keys. Legs can also be affected.
The damage to pockets is also noted from sharp keys and fobs, added to this, scratches to mobile phone screens, if stored in the same bag / pocket can be costly.
If they are carried as a separate unit, this adds to the danger of loosing keys.
People with musculoskeletal problems, dexterity and fine grip problems i.e. rheumatoid arthritis, Work Related Upper Limb Disorder (also known as R.S.I.) may benefit from the added surface area for better grip and application of pressure when opening doors without compromising on style and comfort.
The Challenge was to produce a unit that was both functional and aesthetically pleasin& The end product was the SafeKeyP, a modular / portable key storage unit that is described in the following text with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1: shows an Isometric View of the invention with keys projected.
Figure 2: shows an isometric view of the invention with the keys retracted & stored within the unit. Button I is demonstrated within this drawing and pertains to the external part of the key attachment clip. Button 3 demonstrates the switch for the incorporated LED which is shown as No 3.
Figure 3: shows the sliding function achieved by pushing the button forwards Figure 4: shows the direction of the button with the resulting effective protrusion of the key out of the unit.
Figure 5: shows the modular features of the SafeKeyP that allows for the continued expansion of the unit that is dependent on the individual needs of the user.
Figure 6: shows the universal Clip that allows users to attach commercially available keys to the unit.
Figure 7: Shows an exploded view of the invention with the key component features demonstrated. These comprise of 1 the light switch button, 2 the LED aperture that accommodates the LED light. 3 is a universally available key, shown here to give an element of perspective to the drawing. 4 are the locator holes within the unit that allow the modular features of expansion of the unit as needed.
The sliding clip that allows the projection and retraction of the key from the unit is demonstrated by point 6 within this drawing.
(Drawings -3 pages) Main Technical Feature: I. It is a Modular System 2. Clip on slide integrated to button with dimple to allow easy placement / positioning of commercially available keys 3. Unit clicks into position 4. Safe transportation of keys within a unit that is accessible but will reduce the injury to person / property

Claims (1)

  1. I: This invention is a unique and novel design for a univey key holder with a sliding mechanjsm allowing keys to be projected out of the unit when using keys or retracted & stored safely in the unit when not in use via a sliding mechanism designed into the invejujon.
2: This invention has a modular feature allowing expansion and reduction of the unit size, dependan on the users needs.
3: The invention incorporates a battenj powered LED for use in dark / low light areas 4: The universaj Clip allows users to attach commercially available keys to the unit and is unique to this design.
5: It incorporates existing technoIogj within the novel design, namely a battery powered LED facility that is operated via a button on the unit for use in low light I dark areas.
6: We have not found anything similar available.
